Power jack in the way of tailgate
I have a power jack on my 2010 jayco 256rks and it blocks me from getting my tailgate on my f150 open. Solutions?
Can it be moved?

There are longer receiver bars, or extenders. But I wouldn't want to use one, because it changes the torque on the bar from the weight of the trailer. Could be a bad thing. I just deal with it.

Yup, just dealing with it. Kind of pain in the butt with a tonneau cover that latches on both sides from inside the tailgate.

Take metal cutting saw and rip cut the top 12" off of the tailgate, that should clear the jack now, problem solved.
Just kidding of course.
Yup, it's an issue we all have.

Hvae you tried un bolting the jack and turning it sideways? I did this on a previous trailer i had and it solved the problem for me.

Buy a better pickup that the tailgate clears. I can open the one on my Ram.

Power jack blocking tailgate.
Can the Power jack be moved to one side of trailer frame? Welded on the side further back?
I have a camper shell and can't get to any cargo or even my dog, if he's back in his crate. There has to be a solution other than a different truck or trailer. Although I'm not a real big fan of this trailer.

Equalizer makes an 18" shank for just that reason, it will not have any detrimental effect on your towing.

Power jack blocking tailgate.
Thanks grumpy. I spose I'll have to lengthen safety chains And electric cord,, buts seems like easy fix.
I've had some sway problems with this rig, may this will help.

That may be from not enough tongue weight.

Mine clears with literally 1/4in of clearance. If my weight distribution isn't hooked up it won't clear, and if the truck and trailer aren't perfectly straight in line it won't clear. But it's great that it works most of the time! It's the equalizer hitch 10K with a 12 inch shank.

I'm curious, for those that have a gate that clears.... do you have underslung couplers? Does your power jack have the big plastic housing with the lights on it? Most that response dedicated that it fits have units that are 2016 and older. I'm just wondering what has changed or is different. I'm also sure that not all trailers have the same distance from the center off the ball to the jack.

I had the same issue until I installed my ProPride hitch. Obviously it wasn't the intent when I purchased the hitch, but it was indeed another bonus. The length of the hitch bar and hitch head combined to give me about 4" of clearance for my tailgate now.

Really to know all the differences, members should post their tv info, wdh model (w/ shank length), and tt info.
From what I have seen on most similar models, it does look like the same couple is used. Maybe it's the jack itself that varies slightly when mounted.
But if I had to guess, it has more to do with the various wdh models and the shank that is used. When we first bought our 32, the wdh order was mishandled and the Titan shank that was part of the deal had not been ordered. They had included a Husky shank instead. With the Husky I could not open the tailgate. Had it been about one inch longer it may have. Once I installed the Titan shank, the tailgate clears by a fair distance.
You can see the difference in shank length from the pin hole to the hitch head mounting bolt holes. I don't remember exactly, but think it was about 3".
It may be possible to unbolt the jack turn it and bolt it down. The tailgate may clear then. Or possibly buy a new jack with a different shaped power head. The Atwood jack are very good models, along with the Barkers.

I carry a heavy duty bath mat in truck. I place it between jack and tailgate. Assures no damage to tailgate. Does not help access to truck though.

SWMBO's Tacoma always interfered with the tongue jack.
We just made sure everything that had to be loaded over the tailgate was done before hitching up.
My F-350 is a flatbed -- No tailgate. Nothing to hold cargo in either.
Somewhere there is a good compromise. Haven't found it yet.
