Propane hookup
I have purchased a used 27 BH and it came w/o tanks but does have a rack. Only has as stub with a fitting sticking out from under the front of the trailer. I realize I want two 30 gal tanks and a switch-over valve, and I guess two pigtails to hook to the tanks. But I'm curious how people mount the regulator/valve. I was thinking since I'm good with plumbing that I'd remove the fitting and use iron pipe up to the regulator and let that "secure it". Or do people "hard pipe" the regulator to one tank and then pigtail to the other tank, and use flex hose to the fitting under the front of the trailer? I have no reference. I Googled for images of hookups, and have searched here but maybe didn't use right terms, but since I didn't see it I am asking for what is the "best practice" for hooking up the tanks?

I would mount the regulator as shown in the picture with rubber hoses to each tank instead of hard pipe. This will make it much easier to remove the tanks for refilling. LW

Yes, do it like in the picture. That's how mine looks from the factory (and I assume most, if not all, do). A threaded rod goes in between the tanks and holds the bar down on top of both tanks to secure it all.

I ordered two 18" pigtails and a autoswitch regulator, two tanks. Thinking I'll hard pipe black gas pipe up to the regulator but have to see how it goes, the rubber lines should allow sufficient wiggle room, but want to use a cover too so it all has to be tucked in. They are backordered but I have little use scheduled until after Christmas. Thanks for advice since it was all missing I wasn't sure the standard setup and where the regulator was mounted if you have all rubber lines.

Yea, it came with a rack and crossbar, rod and a large wingnut, even a cover but no tanks or hookups.

I don't know about putting that hard pipe in.. there is a reason that every manufacture puts it on a rubber hose. I THINK you will find that the way it is set up acts like a shock absorber for the regulator.

My regulator mounts to a sheet metal bracket that fits over the rod coming up through the hold down(notched bracket) then the wing nut secures the whole shebang! I would not fool with iron or black iron pipe here though...go brass or go home!

I understand now most folks have a bracket to hold the regulator that attaches to the rod, but I only have the rack,rod and wingnut, was not sure how the reg was attached to anything. I get it now.
