Propane - Refridgerator

My refridgerator won't light when I'm on battery power. I can hear it trying to ignite, but it won't come on. After I plug up to ac, it will light. Of course, then I switch over from propane.

Could it be that my battery is in such bad shape?

Might be... Unhook your shore power and leave the battery rest for a few hours and check the voltage. It should float around 12.6 Volts. If you turn on the refridgerator and the voltage falls quickly then yes the batteries are done...

How old is the current one? If it's over four years old, it might be time to get out your wallet and spring for a new battery. Just like yours, my refrigerator won't light the burner if the battery is low and often times there's no message on the display to indicate this. You can hear the igniter snapping, then after some number of the attempts, the alarm on the refrigerator sounds.

This can also happen with a good battery if your trailer has been sitting for a long period of time without being plugged into shore power.

Thanks, guys! I think this is the deal. A new battery sure beats some other things I could have imagined....

Like I just performed the same thing on my TT yesterday and come to find out my batteries afre fine but the wiring is corroded and warm for the first 6-9" inches from the battery. This tell me I got a internal resistance built up in the wire and need to replace this small length.

Like my TT is hook to shore power 24/7 and I figure OK just check the panel and see it full right. Now open the cabinet and unplug the battery charger. Now check again battery shows full. Now flip on 2 lights... Check again batteries are EMPTY. But now shut off the light and the display shows full again.

So this basically shows the main wire off the batteries is corroded enough to choke the current flow to the point of appearing dead when it really isn't... Hence with this much choke the wire starts to heat up...

So helping you just help me...
