Pulling Jayco Jayflight with Hitch Extension

I'm pulling a 2009 Jayco 22FB with a 2007 Ford Expedition. We've taken it out once with no problems (with the trailer). However, when hooked to TV by itself, I can not open the Lift Gate of the Expy. I have a 12" Hitch Extension and according to Reese, it good for up to 6500 lbs (650 TW) if using Weight Distributing which I use. Has anyone had any negative or positive experience with using a Hitch Extender. Thank you for any comments. Don

What is hitting the lift gate? Some times turning the Power Jack (if equipped) will solve the problem and you can use the standard shank.

Personally I would not trust a hitch extension, especially when using a wdh. Look into a new shank that the hitch head bolts to. E-Trailer has a few available in different lengths. Measure your current shank from the pin hole to where the hitch head bolts are. Try to figure out just how much longer of a shank you need. Then find a shank that is a little longer in length that will work.
