Question about new TT

I just arrived home last night with a new FB22. When the representative at the dealership did the walk-around with me, everything was open and the bottle cover was off. He closed everything up while I was completing the paperwork and I didn't realize until I arrived home that the plastic propane bottle cover was not fastened down to anything. There are two small tabs with holes in the front and back at the bottom of the cover, but nothing nearby to attach them to. I can just lift the cover off very easily and nothing stops it (no clips, screws, bolts or anything). I am surprised the cover did not fly off going down the highway. I would just take it back to the dealer and ask about this, but it's a couple hour drive, which can be a little costly at 9 MPG.

So, do any of you know if the cover should be attached somehow to the trailer?

Thanks for the help!

Mine isn't attached either, however there is some friction between the covers and tanks and it certainly takes some force required to lift it off.

I also have a 22FB and there are no clips, etc. but the friction alone makes it pretty tough to slide it off easily.

p.s. Welcome to the JOF, Ultrarunner!

The LP tanks are sitting in kind of a tray, right? Can you loosen the clamp that holds the LP tanks down and move the tanks slightly outward to provide a little friction between them and the cover?

Good idea if the cover is not tight. Ours just lifts off but fits tight. If you want you could drill a small hole in the bottom and use a small bungee cord to keep it down.

We bought the 23FB last June. Grats on your new TT!!
Ours just sits over top our propane tanks. Very snug. It isn't going anywhere.
Enjoy!!

Ours came with a small bungie-cord. There should be two small, round "hooks" on the bottom, & the cord slips under the tanks tray - if not try clutch's idea for that extra bit of security...

Up until this winter, I stored my TT undreground, which required removal of the propane tanks. Every spring when I reinstalled them for the season I often had to adjust the positioning of the tanks one (or more) times until I had enough tension on the cover that it would be secure. After 12 years with the original cover, I haven't lost it yet.

Like some of the other posters have already said, loosten up the hold downs on the tanks and slide them out a bit.

Seann, after meeting you I can easily see how you could need help getting the cover off your tanks.

Yep! Underground. In western PA there are a number of limestone mines that store hundreds of RVs over the winter in the mined-out areas. With a constant temperature of around 52 degrees you don't even have to winterize- although, I still do just in case the temps go below freezing before putting it in or after taking it out of the mine.

Many businesses and large corporations lease areas of the mine and build their own underground record retention centers. Their data centers store their backup files and historical records in these facilities. There are even some movie companies that keep their master copies of films and pictures underground. They're safe, fireproof and secure. Some mines even have climate-controlled areas for the storage of antique automobiles.

FPM keeps his Jayco in a nuke proof underground fallout shelter! With a constant temp, no sunlight, rain or snow it will last forever!

Thanks for the feedback and ideas. It looks like I can loosen the bottles and slide them out a little to get some tension. I also like the bungie cord idea. My cover has the two tabs, so I'm thinking that must be what they are for.

Thanks all!
