Question for 26RKS Owners

My family is considering purchasing the 26RKS with bunks. Have any of you modified the entry area in the main cabin between the queen bed area and the rest of the camper (even if you don’t have the bunk model)? We would like to try to put some kind of door in (bifold, sliding, etc.) and get rid of the curtain.

Also, how do you find these close quarter sleeping arrangements between the queen and bunks (if you have the bunk model)? Do you travel with small children, teens or other adults?

We really like everything about this model but wonder about the sleeping area layout. Any advice and experience you can share is greatly appreciate.

In case you don't receive any immediate replies....

Check HERE for some pics of this particular unit and diagram of floorplan (it's for sale so I'm sure at some point this link will become inactive). Maybe you could contact that dealer to enquire of the width of the bunks or other questions you may have.

Click for a Youtube video of the bunk model

Hope this helps a little

I don't have the TT you are talking about. Nor am I familiar with it. I recently upgraded to a 32 TSBH. One reason I did so was that my old TT had 2 bunks in the rear. One above the other(guess thats what makes them bunks). There was an opening into each bunk of about 3 feet, and the rest of the way back was covered with wall. That wall was also the bathroom wall. No one would ever sleep in these bunks. They all said they felt closed in and uncomfortable. Those bunks ended up being storage area, and every night I had to take down the dinette, and unfold the sofa. It made mornings not a lot of fun. These were both single bunks, and the floor plan of the 26RKS may be different. When I went shopping for my new one, we looked and looked. Almost bought a Zinger with a queen bottom and a normal top bunk. We decided it reminded us too much of what we already had. It only had one slide as well. When I stopped at the Jayco dealer, I fell instantly in love with the 32TSBH. So far so good. I am not familiar with all of the Jayco floor plans. I just know that the set up we had in our old TT was not for us. My kids were all teenagers at the time, it might be better had they been under 10. Just my thoughts on the matter.
