Mice chewed the heater vent near the floor in the bathroom of our 26BHS. I tried to remove the vent from the duct so I could add screen behind it, but the vent seems to be glued to the round, metalized duct. Has anyone removed the vent from the duct?

Ummm, I see no one answered the OP, but reading this today my reaction would be, don't put screen over the duct entrance, get the mice permanently out of your TT! trying to trap them inside your duct work is a whole new problem!

I rerouted some of my flexible heating duct recently and had a heck of a time getting the vent off the duct piping. Mine is silver but flexible, same as in many houses but smaller diameter. Finally realized that there is a set screw holding it on plus it is screwed on via some tabs that stick out of the duct and are threaded into the metal coil in the duct. It's very tight and I thought it might be glued on. Tore the ductwork a bit getting it unscrewed from the vent but a little duct tape and all was well. Yes, they are very hard to remove but mine were not glued.
Thanks. I trapped a mouse (the mouse?) with a glue trap and added a wire cover over the heater vent. It is not pretty, but creates another barrier. If I decide to replace the vent, I'll look for the set screw and tabs.
just not sure where to purchase the boots at. Any thoughts?
