Replacing Frosted Door Window

Has anyone replaced their frosted door window with plain glass? I hate sitting on the couch and not be able to see out of the door window. There are a number of screws around the window on the inside, I think all I have to do is remove these screws, take the frame off, remove the window and replace with a piece of glass the same size - does this sound right? Does anyone know the size of glass that I will need? Thanks in advance.

If you remove the window, get some help to assist you in removing it, Someone needs to be on both sides.

Only problem with clear glass is those outside have a clear view of inside. There are many places that can provide all manner of replacement glass. The glass is hardened and will shatter if broken.

Personally, my preference is to open the door if you want to see out. I put plexiglass on the screen to keep my cool/heat inside.

norty1, thanks for reply. I am in the wilds of central PA, the only things that will see me are the deer, bears and turkeys and I don't care what they see, except for the DW the first thing in the morning, what a scary sight.

I plan on doing this also for the same reason. I want to be able to look out thru the window and have more light in our trailer. This is what I have learned. The local glass shop will cut a piece for the window. It needs to be sent to a company who will temper the glass. I have a choice of either a light grey color or light brown/bronze. I could also go clear and put a film on it if I wish. What would really be neat is installing a window that has the blinds built inside of the window that has a slider to open them. This type of window may be too thick for this application but something I thought would be perfect. The glass shop told me it would be around 50 dollars for the tinted window. Hope this helps.

I wanted to install a tinted glass window in my door...that window is glued in, once you get the trim off you will see a bead of black sealant between the glass and the outside of the door keeping water from penetrating into the door itself. I changed my mind when I saw that....don't need leaks!

I took a look at your screen, Bob, you did a great job on that. I noticed on the plastic window frame that the dealer sent me by mistake that there is a channel that has silicone or something similar that the window adheres to. I dont think it would be to hard to remove and replace the glass should I go that route but I may try Bob's solution fist.
