Roof fan install

Hey all -
I'm new to the forum.
Got a quick question for y'all. I currently own a 2017 Jayflight 28BHBE and my only complaint is the ventilation is mehhh, even with all the windows open. Don't know why they didn't install a roof vent with the skylight but... Wte. Makes me scratch my head.

So my question is - where can I open up the roof on this model and not run ACROSS any electrical wires but have them available so that I could tie into them with a roofing fan... (and not harm the integrity of the roof)?

Thanks!

Your best bet is to contact Jayco customer service with your VIN# and ask the for the build diagrams for your TT. If it was available in that model, there is a good chance that it is already framed in. If you feel froggy, you can jump right in and remove some ceiling fixtures and have a look inside. You can go to someplace like Harbor Freight and get a cheap borescope camera or use the camera on your phone with the flash on to look around inside the ceiling.

Just a thought... if you have one vent already that has a fan, replace that piece of junk with a REAL exhaust fan (Fantastic Fan, Hengs Vortex, etc). Those fans really help a LOT.

In our old trailer we could just turn on the Hengs Vortex and open a bedroom window and cool down the trailer pretty well. With young kids now, we need windows closed and tinted dark or else they won't fall asleep and will wake up at the crack of the first dawn.

A real fan will help immensely with circulation and would be cheaper and easier than installing a new vent.

Good luck, welcome to the forum!

Thx for the kind welcomes

I will make an attempt to call the Jayco factory and see how they could help.

The problem is ventilation. This Jayco does a fine job of holding the heat, which can be good but living in PHX, it sucks. We store it up in the pines during most of the summer but when we do bring it south, it heats like an oven and even after the 2 hr trip north into cooler temps, everything inside is still toasty and remains that way for most of the day.

The only ceiling fan/vent is in the bathroom which doesn't help our cause. There is a huge skylight which is awesome, however why why WHY they didn't just make it a fan is beyond my comprehension.

We had a 22' with two ceiling fans in our last Northwood and bring in fresh air via fan makes a WORLD of difference. We have a new inverter genny with an 15000 BTU AC but we're just trying to make it comfortable rather than doing all that...

Having a real fan in the bathroom, and opening the street side bedroom window will create plenty of circulation.

I removed the factory piece o crap and installed a fantastic fan on my 287BHBE, and it can cool down the whole coach in a couple minutes.
