Roof Issue

Alright today went on my roof and after having my new 330 rlts home for almost 3 weeks I noticed that all the sealant that goes aound the skylights, vent pipes, etc., basically all covers on the roof is still tacky. Called Jayco and was told that this sealant should always stay tacky. If this is true this putty sealant collects dirt and dust and just about everything in the air like you cannot believe. My question is, Is what I'm being told by Jayco correct, will this sealant ever fully cure and how long will it take???

Yes, what Jayco said is basically true. You will find that over the years it will tend to become hard, and that's when you have to watch for cracks. Tacky is good, means it is still flexible and will be less susceptible for loosing its grip/seal.

As a precaution twice a year you should check your entire TT (roof, wall joints, windows, etc.) to insure that all seals and caulking hasn't been compromised (also keeps your warranty valid).

Don't worry about the roof caulking getting dirty, nobody looks up there anyways.

.

If one can press their finger nail into the caulking and it leaves a mark, then caulking is still good. If NO mark (before "paining" your finger), then caulking is too hard. If too hard, it won't stretch when trailer chassis twists across the road or camp ground bumps. If it cannot stretch, then caulking cracks (which is very bad). Sounds weird but "finger nail impression test" every 6 months works for me as well....
