Roof rack on trailer roof

Hey everybody. I am going to install a roof rack to haul canoes and kayaks on the back area of the roof on my J Flight. The mounting screws will actually be through the top band of the drip edge on the sides. I am thinking if I butyl the snot out of it when I mount it that I shouldn't have any leak problems and that will be a very sturdy mount. Before I pull the trigger this week and actually get the work done, does anybody have any thoughts I should take into consideration before doing this? Thanks ahead of time.
