OK ... I still need to get a cover (on the long list of things to do) and install it. gonna re-treat the black water tank and keep the vent closed next time we head out to see if it helps. Thx!

I always leave my vent open (with a vent cover) ... especially when traveling ... gets the smell of camping out of the TT on the way home. Maybe try a different black tank treatment? Or double the amount?
Unless ... is it possible that your gray water tank wasn't fully closed when you emptied your black water tank? If so, the smell might be coming from your sink/shower drains. Any backflow from black to gray will not only leave a stink coming from your sink/shower drains but you'll need to disinfect your fresh and city water lines. Not trying to scare you. Just trying to offer some, been there/done that advice.

We travel with covers and open vents. We did have problem with the 230SL if the air was on and you flushed yuuuuuuk! like sticking your head in an out house

hotrod51 - did you use a tank treatment? I am begining to believe they are more or less a marketing ploy and not needed. I know it stinks no matter what treatment you apply. Nothing short of soaking it all in something very nasty would prevent that - and it shouldn't.

What I'm wondering is do the treatments help the breakdown of the solid wastes.

To the OP - when we first got our new trailer, we used to get stink when traveling. I believe it was coming from the shower drain as that is very low - and sloshing could have put stinky stuff into the p-trap. Now we plug all the drains and are smell free....
