Sanitizing FW Tank - Where to dump?

New TT here and have a newb question. I'd like to sanitize the FW tank which is 80 gal, but my gray tank is 40 gal. How do I get rid of the bleach/water solution? Is it appropriate to let it go in the storm drain?

There is hardly any bleach in the mix, maybe a cup and a quarter, I would let it go down the storm drain.

Very strong concentrations of chlorine can corrode the core of the heater. That said, they have to be VERY strong concentrations, for a prolonged time. If you are following mfg's instructions on how to sanitize, you will never be even close. My Jayco manual recommends 1/4 cup for every 15 gallons, letting it sit in all plumbing (including hot water system) for 4 hrs. They do advise to premix each 1/4 cup with a gallon of water - presumably to reduce initial concentration just in case a slug of full strength should end up where it shouldn't.

Now on my swimming pool, I have to be much more careful - the concentrations are much, much higher, and I have to make sure that it goes in after the heater, so it gets diluted in the pool before making its way back....

I've dumped both pool water and my trailer sanitized water directly on my lawn, with no ill effects, ever.

BTW - the Jayco manual also notes a faster method with double the bleach. I did it once. While fast (1 hr) it took a LOT of flushing to get rid of the smell. And it doesn't help that your nose gets used to it, so you think it's fine, until you get that big glass of water from the kitchen a couple of days later....

You can dump your FW tank on the ground. That little bit of bleach is no more harmful than the poisons they put in the city water...

I dump onto the ground, and down the sewer. Once the lines and tank are sanitize I run some water through the pipes, then I open the low point drains and let gravity do its thing. While the FW tank is draining I use the city water connection to flush the lines for a while with clean water. Once the FW tank is drained. I will fill the FW tank with city water and drain most of it though the low point drain. Funning a some thought the pump, to flush it.
