screen door adjustment

Hello - I have a 314BDS. I know it is still under warranty, but trying to save the trip.

The main screen door rubs at the top left (outside looking at door). I need to pull down on it when opening it and it will not rub. This happens with just the screen or when the exterior door is used also.

I thought it was a right/left issue but seems to be a front to back issue.

When I tilt the trailer toward the front the rubbing is minimal. Level or nose high seems to rub more.

Can the frame be adjusted?

I had minimal pressure on the stabalizers, but no pressure on them seems to help a little too.

What else can I look for or do without going back to the dealer? (trying to wait until end of season for that).

Thanks!
Mark

You could put a screen door torsion bar on it but it should most likely be replaced since it is out of square.

If not familar with one, it mounts across two corners of the screen door then you twist the nut to pull or push the door to square. If rubbing on top you would want to fasten one end to that corner and the other by the jamb then toque as needed to pull down the upper corner of the door. They run about 8-12 bucks but come if a few sizes so measure first.

Thanks.

Is there a frame on the door that just needs to be adjusted?

I would say not since your hard door works properly. Sure the frame is going to twist should you put pressure on any given point of the frame rails but the screen door frame is more of your issue. The torsion bar should fix the issue and square the door frame which is what your are doing by pulling down on it.

If you leave it as is it's going to wear a point on the door frame eventually. Should be replaced under warranty but this would save you the trip.

My advice is take pictures of the rubbing area and send to Jayco directly. They may provide a warranty claim number for you to bring to the dealer for repair. It will take about 48-72 hrs before you get a response. I did that with a few issues and was provided the claim number ahead of service so the parts were ordered by the dealer then I went in once they arrived which kept my down time minimal. Not all issues will be handled that way though.

Ours did the same thing. I installed a torsion bar and problem solved.

So at the stoage facility the trailer sits unlevel from right to left and the screen door does not rub. Attached are two pics of my level on the kitchen counter (right to left, looking toward rear of trailer).

Door issue or should the trailer be unlevel for a reason?

That looks level to me.
I'd say door issue.
