I run the reese wdh and also added the sway control. Its basicly a friction clamp that helps a TON !!! Mostly when passing or getting passed by a semi truck at highway speed. I run it on my f250 and notice a difference so i would imagine it would really help with a f150 even more. Remember any truck can pull a trailer straight down the road with no problem. The issues come up when you have to do some fast evasive type manuvering at highway speed. So like you said earlier why skimp out with the saftey equipment?? 500-1000 dollars will seem like a hell of a deal when your rig is still upright and your family is safe after a close call
