Should we get the 2nd air conditioner in bedroom?

We are looking to order a 2014 Jay Flight 28 BHBE (33.3' long). Adding a second a/c unit in the bedroom is a $1000 option and we are trying to decide if it is worth it. The bedroom in the 28 BHBE is completely walled off with the door being right next to the main entry door of the TT. We will use the TT for week-long vacations and weekend getaways. We are planning a trip to Ft Wilderness Disney in the next year or two.

Thx!

We have our 36bhds set up on a seasonal site in hot and humid N.C. with no shade and the 1 unit has been more than enough.

Adding a 2nd AC will or should push you into a 50 amp service. RV parks will charge you a bit more for 50 amp. If you run on a generator, that will also run your price of a capable generator to run 2 AC's way up.

Turn the fan on manual and let it circulate throughout the night while sleeping if u find it to hot.

I guess I'll be the "odd man out" and say I personally would order it.

It will cost you more to have it added later if you find that you "do" need it. It will increase resale/trade-in value. You don't have to use 50 amp at a campground if you don't need both a/c's, get a 30-50 adapter. When you spread the cost out over the length of ownership it is actually not that expensive.

Another vote for 'yes' here. I have a 2011 32BHDS and the single 15k unit has a hard time keeping up in the Texas summers, especially when there is no shade. I've been thinking of adding a second unit myself for this exact reason. If I were buying today, I would be getting the same floorplan, but the Eagle version just so that I could get the additional A/C.

As Grumpy said above, you don't have to use it if you don't need it, but you can't use it if you don't have it.

I need to add we have a 15,000 BTU unit with artic insulation package. We keep the thermostat set between 70-75 and even on the hottest days my family complains about being too cold. We also sleep with a extra layer of cover on the beds. After the sun goes down the unit only cycles on/off just a few time during the night.

Curious as to what a hot day is for you.

I got some kind of upgraded insulation package, but I don't believe the Arctic package was available when I got my trailer. If it was, I would have jumped on it!

90-100+ degree days with high humidity is normal here in the Caralina's in the summer.

I would do it! prices having a second ac unit added recently, anywhere from $1500 to $1900. A grand is a steal in my eyes, plus you can roll it into your loan if you have one.

We like our second AC and even tho we have never had both running at the same time. If we need AC at night we run the one in the living room and we don't have to listen to the noise. When we are in the living area we use the one in the bedroom and all we get is quiet cool air. It will mean that you will have 50 amp service but you can use a 50 to 30 adapter and your trailer will work just fine.

We have a 2013 28BHBE with the thermal pkg , we have the 15K AC option, but not dual AC. I would have to say no to the second unit, unless you have money to burn.

Ours stays plenty cool with the fan set to low or high. There is an AC outlet in the ceiling over the master bed, and it blows hard, right on you. There is another right by the bunks, that I aimed towards the bunks, and the kids were cold and made me point it away. There is another in the bathroom, so it's plenty cool.

The only advantage I see is perhaps if one fails, you have a backup. Or if you camp where it gets really hot.

We have an 351 RLTS Eagle with 2 AC units. The dealer actually tried to talk us out of the 2nd unit. We are really happy that we went with 2 units especially for the reasons listed by Clutch. When we are in the living room we run the bedroom unit and don't have to listen to the unit. When in the bedroom we run the living room unit. We also use a 50 amp to 30 amp adapter when 50 is not available.

You can never have too much A/C. BEtter to have and not need then to need and not have. I wish my Greyhawk motorhome had two A/C units...

Make sure to get a low profile unit up front. It will give you a few less inches of height. It is the highest thing on the roof.

Another benefit of two AC's is that you can cool a hot trailer much faster.

Our previous trailer had one AC. It would take hours to cool the trailer after towing in hot weather.

Our current trailer has two AC's. It cools down in a fraction of the time.

No question about it, I would get it added. It will never be less expensive than from the factory. It makes roughing it even more comfortable and quiet.

Should we get the 2nd air conditioner in bedroom?

I can see the benefits of reducing sound by running one or the other depending whether or not you're in the bedroom, but we have a 32TSBH with a thermal package and 15k a/c and it gets and stays plenty cool during our hot Iowa summers. I have no reservations other than I seriously question the logic of putting a second a/c in the front bedroom instead of the back bunk area.
