What, if anything, do you lubricate the slide track with?

There are specific "slide lube" products available at RV stores, but check your RV manual for recommendations. Some manufactures say you don't need to lubricate them, others do.

The biggest problem with lubricating the slide rails/tracks is that many lubricants hold dust/dirt. To much dirt build-up (metal-on-metal) may cause premature wear.

I just got my RV out of the shop and when I took it in I was complaining of the horrendous noise when I brought my slideout in...and it would not go all the way in on the first try... They asked if I had lubed it this year... I said no so they told me that was most likely the problem.. so I bought a can of lube and it fixed that problem... They replaced the DVD player and the awning under warranty.. no my baby is back at 100%

The service manager at my dealer told me to use motorcycle chain lube.

I wouldn't use chain lube or any other oil because it will attract dirt. I buy the dry lube from my camper dealer and use it every spring. It never has given me a problem.
