Slide topper

I just found out from a good fellow at the Jayco Factory that you can have your salesman "pink" slip a special order to have a slide topper installed at the factory.....I will call his on Tues. to find out how much......

On some models you can have toppers added at the factory. What model are you looking at? I believe it's cheaper than having the dealer do it.

Nice rig, as we've owned one a couple of years too. Lots of pink sheet items, you just have to ask. I've seen deleted skylights and outdoor kitchens just to name a few. Always free to ask and sometimes you could be surprised at what they might do. Jayco will do a few things, other manfufactures I dealt with in the past will do a lot more.

Yes, I believe it's cheaper to have the topper added at the factory. Mine was $600, done later. Seems about the same price factory installed as doing it yourself. Can't remember the factory price.

I ordered my 2017 Jay Flight 28BHBE this past April. I had the skylights and the roof mounted tv antenna deleted.

I spoke to the factory and the dealer and was told on this model the factory would not install a topper. It may have changed since then. You'll know once you call. I had the dealer do it and it has been fine.

Funny factory wouldn't install the toppers as I know they would in the 15 / 16 models.

Can't speak to whether your model can have toppers installed at the factory or not, but we had them installed on our 2017 Eagle (3 of them) and they were a paltry 675.00 for all 3. They were Dometic Elite toppers.

Depending on the dealer, a slide topper can also be added as part of your negotiations when buying a unit already on the lot. That's how we added ours.

And some units just don't have the space or structure necessary to install a slide topper.

They wouldn't install one at the factory on our Hummingbird so I had the dealer do it prior to us picking it up.

I wish I could say "paltry". I'm too embarrassed to say what I paid for 5 at the dealer. Didn't even take the extra warranty they wanted to add to each. I was talking to someone that had his 5 done on the same model at the factory. It was less than half of what i dished out. If you can, I'd get it done at the factory. Unless your willing to take one heck of a sucker punch.

When we were ordering our trailer, I was pricing them out as well and was told by our salesman, "Sure, we can add them for you". The price I got at that time was approx. 1100.00 EACH for toppers. That was just too much so I figured I would add them later down the road if needed.

But during the 19 weeks we waited for our Eagle, I continued to poke around on different dealer sites to look at already arrived models like ours, which ended up being my saving grace. While waiting on our build, I ran across a dealership in Pennsylvania that not only ordered their unit with toppers, but posted the invoice on the website which clearly showed that they were ordered from Jayco and the end cost was 675.00.

I IMMEDIATELY called my salesman, told him what I saw and he didn't believe me. I had to email him a copy of that invoice from the other dealer and ask if he wanted to call Jayco or should I?. He reluctantly called and got them added to my existing order. This was about 12 weeks into our wait and had Jayco not been so backed up with orders, I would have missed out as well.

Right before I took delivery of mines, I asked the dealer to install 3 toppers for my 2016 Eagle HT 28.5 rsts. He charged me $1,600.
