I was told from day one to go to the dollar store and buy a bunch of those cheap beach balls. Partially inflate them to hold the awning up and increase the angle so the rain don't puddle and stretch them as well as if you are under trees the added angle allows the debris to fall of more easily.

Slide topper was one of the first things I added to my old trailer. I liked the idea of having a cover to 1) help keep rain off the slide, 2) keep sun off the slide top, 3) keep debris, leaves, etc off the slide.

If I had bought a new trailer with a slide, if it didn't come with a slide topper, I would have added one.

But my new trailer, 23RB, doesn't have a slide.

For everyone who has added slide toppers to their RV, have you had any issues when the weather turns windy? In other words, just as we would retract our awning in excessively windy conditions, do the slide toppers have issues?

Only on 1 or 2 occasions did I close the slide due to the wind. Normally, the slide kept open. If we encountered really high winds, I closed the slide just as a precaution.

Went to Walmart and got 4 balls and put 2 under each slide topper and ours does not flap when the high winds come.

Our topper hasn't had any issues with the wind. I imagine noise could be an issue if the wind was from the 'wrong' direction, but that hasn't happened to us yet.

If it should be an issue, I've thought about throwing a rope over the topper and snugging slightly. That's only a thought. Haven't had a reason to try it.

Atlee, Parcany, oldmanAZ, thank you for your responses regarding the slide toppers. That was very helpful.

I ordered them with our new Eagle TT. Dealer quoted me over 2 grand to install 3 of them and Jayco did it during our build for 675.00. I do have issues with water pooling on the two rear slides that are about 10' long and have been just running the slide in and out again to dump the water but that gets old so going to play with some cheap beach balls or PVC supports this year.

Stay winters in florida where it's always windy. Sometimes the toppers are noisy but never had a real problem.
The long one sometimes collects rain but in an hour or so it will tighten up and dump it.
