Sliding Window Help

Hi boys & girls, in our lil 165 we have one sliding window thats needs a little something cuz its kinda of tuff to close. Looking for some suggestions for something ( spray silicone ? ) to make window jus glide !

Hey Chuck,
We have 3 sliding windows and all are difficult to open/close. Recently I replaced one of them (broken glass) and the new one slides real easy. I've lubed the others with silicone spray (use caution, kinda messy) and that helps for a while. The replacement window was a duplicate of the original and I'm clueless as to why it operates so much easier.

Hey Chuckwagon,

I have the same problem on my 197. It's the dining window to the right of the door when looking at it from outside trailer. I have given up on trying to open it. I'm also interested in a fix. A simple one.

Hi 3firetrucks, hey bud we are talking about the same window I think. Your 197 is a blown-up version of our 165 forgive me if I'm wrong. Not sure if I could do a 197 with my Taco ? I had my truck before any considerations for a TT we still doing tent camping,oh well. No complaints on the 165 jus a little small sometimes but like one of friends once said to me thats what outside is for !

Sounds like we also did the same kind of purchase. I had my vehicle first for years before buying the trailer. Started out being on the market for a 184. Then started looking at the 165s and 197s. Just so happened I found mine at a reasonable price. My wife says she prefers the layout of the 165. Funny that we have problems with the same window. I wonder how many more are like it.

Hey, we have 6 sliding windows and none of them slide easy. I am afraid to use any type of lube as I don't want to get the channel full of dust and really make them stick. As it is we just force them.

Our 165 Sport slide is a little tight, but manageable. I've never lubed it.

All mine are tight as well. Also notice the screens will sometimes open with the windows so have to make sure I slide them back closed.

This is a systemic problem it seems. Mine also are hard to open and the bedroom window screen sometimes slide open. I am afraid to lube them because we get blowing dust here in AZ. We just "man handle" open and shut them. haha

Wow, this hard-to-operate window thing is more widespread than I thought. While ours are manageable it's certainly an issue. One of the things that I find odd is that my replacement window is easy to slide and I can see no difference between it and the original. This problem seems present over multiple year models so I doubt it's a particular manufacturing run that is causing this. Wonder if Jayco does something to the windows before or as they install that causes this problem.
I mounted the replacement (for you X23B owners it's the one over the sink) using butyl tape. The original was mounted with some kind of foam weather stripping. I've re-bedded another window (right side forward) with the butyl and it didn't change the stickiness of the window.

Yep, we have/had one that was hard to open. I brought our 23B in last fall, the dealer lubed it with some dry lube that worked well, and then ordered us a replacement window, I think it had a 4 week leadtime. The window is sitting in their stock room still. They will be installing it in November, as a warranty item.

Yep same thing here. I just hit them lightly with silicone spray at the begining of the camping season as a temp fix. My latch/handles also is a bit difficult and worn to operate and assuming its from pulling on them to get the windows open in the past.

I asked a buddy today who has a non Jayco trailer. To my dismay he said his windows slide fine.unlike my sticky one.
