SLX air conditioner

The 212QBW I have on order has the upgrade 15000 btu air conditioning. The only thing that bugs me is it is controlled by knob instead of a thermostat. Am I just over thinking things. Or am I going to regret not having a thermostat.

Mine is controlled by a knob on the unit as well. It's on the ceiling panel. No real thermostat, just a knob that you turn to lower the temp. The fan on these (at least on mine) runs all the time that the unit is on so even though the compressor will come on and go off based on the temp, the fan keeps running. I didn't realize there was a different option when we purchased ours or think ahead and realize that my wife cannot reach the knob to change the temp. Net - I regret not getting the wall thermostat control, which also shuts the fan off and on like the AC in your home does. Gets annoying to have the fan run all the time the AC is on. It's on my upgrade list to install one. I believe there are threads on the forum on the parts/kits and how to do it.

You will regret it. I have a 267 SLX. You can buy a kit that will stop it from running all the time but it is still knob controlled.

I have had several trailers with A/C units like this. I cant stand them and really despise the constant running on really stormy nights when I want to hear what's happening outside the trailer.
The "kit" is nothing more than a Hunter brand thermostat, which you need to wire in and locate in your trailer, but you will still need to turn the unit on at the ceiling control, first.

My SLX has the basic window unit with a lousy thermostat built in. It has 2 settings, 2 hot or 2 cold.
After reading the above I found this controller (Below) at walmart. The nice part is no wiring and I can use it my tiny and also poorly thermostated heater on cold nights. I know it can't be used with roof air but a lot of us SLX owners have the window units now.
