Snakes Under RV Deck - Anyone Want Them
Anyone have a niffty trick to rid snakes that are living under the deck at my RV? I am pretty sure they are garder snakes but they still scare the you know what out of me. I have tryed to run my electric leaf blower under the deck hoping they would leave. It may have worked because I have not seen one in a couple of days but just checking to see if someone knows any tricks to use.

My Grandparents owened a grain/feed mill. While in school I worked part time in the mill and farm store. We sold lots of things beyond grain; differnt minerals, salt blocks, fertilizer, feed additives, etc. One thing we sold a lot of in the Spring/Summer was Dusting Sulpher. If you are not familiar with it, its a florescent green/yellow color and has a strong supher smell. Typically its used a topical treatment in agriculture to keep bugs off crops...grapes and tree fruit a lot.
Anyway, several "old timers" would buy it in 50lb bags and circle their yards/homes because snakes won't cross it. They would reapply a couple times during the season and swore by it.
Maybe worth looking into.

As long as there's food the snakes will try to stay.
Get rid of their food supply or put something tasty near by till the snakes leave.
Keep moving the food farther away till the snakes stay away.
OR get a King Snake to move in.
Trouble with a King Snake is they look almost like a Coral Snake. Coral Snakes are bad business.

Move to Arizona. The cowboys trained them to not cross horsehair lariats. You'll need a pretty long one to go around your rig though!

Usually harrassment of some sort will work. OK snake lovers don't freak out, I didn't say kill them. Agree, clear out any food items. Clear out leaves and debris as it will harbor bugs and worms [aka snake food], I sprayed a rat snake hanging out of a hole in my room [house] soffit with bug spray. Never saw him again. I hate mice so the snakes are a catch 22. Snakes kill mice [which is ok] but they can also get in any hole that will let a mouse inside your RV. Another reason to plug all holes around cables, gas lines, etc.
Finally I move from the city after 55 years of urban life. Now live in a very rural area on an old tobacco farm. Snakes are normal around here. The rat snakes I mentioned above are good to have around [just not hanging from my soffit on the front porch] so I have learned to just move them outt of my way if I'm mowing or what ever. The garter snakes you have are also harmless and typically very small. If you can catch them just take them a couple hundred yards to the edge of the campgrounds and I don't think if will return.
Good luck, I don't like to be surprised either.
