Storage
My "Perfect" storage spot fell through and I have found another one. This will be storing on gravel which I am not thrilled with, but will be temporary. Would anyone recommend placing wood under my tires to keep them off the gravel? Thank you

We keep out TT at home on a stoned driveway. When it comes time to put it away for the season, we do park the tires on wood boards, and cover them with tire covers. I don't know for sure if it makes a big difference, it's just something we've always done.

We keep ours next to the house on crushed shells (in FL), and with scissor jacks under the frame to keep some of the weight off the springs. We also cover the tires and leave the bathroom thermostat fan on about 78 degrees (and the front ceiling fan vent open, but not running) to circulate air through out the TT. A must in Florida's winter.

Similar to JFlightRisk, our trailers sit on gravel for about eight months every year (on boards for the worst of the winter) and are none the worse for wear. The only reason I use boards for the winter is that I'm trying to level the trailer a bit without using the leveling system.

When we had ours in storage, it was a gravel lot. I did place boards under the tires. Did it help? I don'd know. Did it hurt? Not at all. I left them in place when were were out with it, then knew I was exactly in my spot when we returned as I drove right up on the boards.

This is what we also do. Crushed stone pad next to my garage, cover the tires in winter. I've done this with 3 trailers over the last 23 years.

Other than when traveling, all of my towables sit on grass/dirt.
The tires should be replaced every 5 years anyway. Why fuss and bother to try and get another year? Especially when a failed stretching technique will leave you changing a tire by the side of the road with the 3 others ready to fail?
Use 'em up! Inspect often. Replace when worn. Don't wait until worn out.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I'll get some boards for over the winter. I am also picking up tire and air conditioner covers for added protection.

As others have said, it couldn't hurt to put them up on wood. However, it's probably not as important as if you were storing them on an asphalt surface. Some folks use 2X8s but I go with 2X10s because it's easier to center the tires, making sure that they don't hang over the edges. Also, make sure they are inflated to their maximum pressure.

Yea, hindsight is like assembly instructions that you read afterwards to see if you did it right! Either way, it's too late!
