Storing trailer for winter - battery care ?

We've always stored our trailer on the street over the winter with an extension cord running from the patio to the trailer. This year, we'd like to take it to a storage unit. What do I do about the batteries during storage? - I have installed a battery disconnect switch if that helps. There is no electricity at the storage unit. If I just disconnect the battery from the trailer, will it hold a charge Nov > March? I have 2 6V batteries, and winters here get down to 0 on occasion. - Storage is outside.

Thanks,

r

I would take the batteries out and take them home and get a battery tender that works for 6 volts.

Storing trailer for winter - battery care ?

I've always just taken my battery out and stored in my basement, on a piece of plywood (not cement floor).

Never used a trickle charger or anything.

Park the trailer, pull the batteries and put them on a battery tender in the basement.

I had the dealer install the batteries initially, and I have no idea of what the proper connections are, or what wires go where... How would I connect these 2 6V batteries to use only one tender? Also, I have a small battery 'charger' - how is that different from a 'Tender', and could I use the charger instead?

When you pull the battery, label the wires for positive and negative. Spring often brings a lot of questions regarding hooking up the battery again so it's best to label the wires so you're certain.

I usually leave my camper plugged in, however I think that I'm going to remove the battery and store it in the basement this year and leave it unplugged myself.

The battery tender plus comes in 6 or 12 volt models you can get the 6 volt charger and hook it up to both batteries at once. also if you have trouble remembering how to hook the batteries back in the camper take a photo of them hooked up, save the photo and use it as a guide when re-installing the batteries
