Storing with stabilizers down?
Where I store my 2011 Jayco Jayflight G-2/ 23 FB has a slight incline to the front. I chock my tires, put in a lock between the duals and feel better if I leave the four stabilizers down. In reading the manual for storage, they advise to not leave the stabilizers down. I fail to see what difference it makes. I would like some input from those with more experience. Also, I just winterized the unit and drained the two fresh water storage tanks. With it being on a slight incline, there probably is a small amount of water resting against the front of the forward tank. Does anyone see a problem when the water left in the tank freezes? It is not a confined space where damage might occur. I appreciate any input you can give me. Thanks.

I don't have a whole lot of experience but was told by my dealer not to store it with the jacks down. They didn't give any reason as to why. A friend who used to have a TT told me that I should put the jacks down but again didn't have any explanation as to why. I'm guessing its a personal preference type thing but would also like to hear from some experienced folks.

It's to help prevent the critters from having 4 more areas to run up and get into the trailer

Keep them up. If a tire leaks then you would be relying on the stab jacks to support the trailer and they're not strong enough for that.
You're not going to be in the trailer so there's no reason to keep it stabilized anyway.

Your not living in it when in storage so keep em up ... it just gives mice another 4 points to try to get inside.

They are in fact strong enough to support the weight of the trailer, the problem is that they are too strong. If they are supporting the weight instead of the tires the frame can contort and you will potentially have problems with windows and doors opening properly. Those stabilizers are only to keep movement down when occupied.

I only deploy my jacks when I will be using the TT for camping. When not in use I do not deploy the jacks.

Don't want frost heaving one corner if the jacks are down. Like someone else stated, it can twist the trailer pretty good, and knock stuff out of alignment. If left on the tires, they can move with the frost and if snow accumulates, the weight will be taken by the suspension and not rest on the stabilizer jacks.

The water will not hurt anything. I use my trailer all year long, so my jacks are down.

I stored my previous trailer in my backyard with the stabilizers down for 10 years without a problem.

I will leave mine down this winter. In the PNW, I'm not worried about frost heave or mice but am concerned about wind. I think keeping the trailer supported on all corners provides more stability in high winds. I do use blocking to keep the jack extension minimized.

X2 - Have always stored my previous TTs with jacks down all winter, and now the 5er already has the landing gear down, so the rear jacks are down as well. Never had a mouse problem, or any other problem, for that matter. As for the small amount of water - should be no problem as you describe it.
