Strange water heater issue.

I run my water heater exclusively on electric at my seasonal site. The other night, during the middle of the night, I heard clicking from the water heater. It sounded like the propane igniter was trying was trying to start the flame.
The 'GAS' water heater switch on the panel was off. Only the 'ELECTRIC' switch was on. Why would the ignitor try to fire if the gas switch was in the off position? (It's a 10 gallon Atwood.)

Have same problem. It won't lite when gas switch is on. Only when the electric is on. I think it might be the circuit board.

Mine works fine on either gas or electric, but yes, i don't know why it tries to ignite gas when gas switch is off.. Probably the board. It only did it that one night. I'll have to keep an eye on it. Thanks for responding.

I replaced the board and it is working fine. Don't know what caused it to go bad.

Were you under warranty? If not, I assume it was a simple swap? How much was the board?

I'm having the same issue. Did you swap the board yourself?

May I ask what you did to fix it. I have a 2021 Bungalow and mine is clicking.

Thanks
