Surge Protector

WOW, went camping over the long weekend and used my surge protector you plug into the elec post at the campground, power cable plugs into the protector.

Only had 2 outlets that would work.

Long story...short.....took my TT in to get repaired and come to find out the surge protector was faulty!!!!

Guess they aren't all that is cracked up to be.

What brand is (was) it? Did it fry the converter? What was the damage?

RedHorse, picking up the TT this afternoon. No damage to my TT or electrical system.
Will post a picture of the surge protector this evening.

Kathie,

I'm curious what was faulty with your (new?/old?) surge protector that would cause only two outlets in your TT to function...,. possibly only one side of the surge protector plug working? Did you try shore power without the surge protector at the CG? Was the TT converter/charger functioning?

Look forward to what you found out.

Bob

Glad the surge protector didn't do any damage to the trailer. Ernie

This was the surge protector I bought and used twice.
Progressive Industries PT30C 30 Amp RV Surge Protector Portable

Didn't damage anything but a BIG waste of over $200.

Bob, when I was out at the CG I didn't even think about the surge protector being faulty. There was so many "issues" I had BEFORE I got out there I just resigned myself to the 2 working outlets. haha
I took the RV in to the shop, they plugged in the power cable to shore power and everything worked fine.
Plugged in the surge protector to shore power, cable from RV to surge protector and only partial power. AND the "E-10" code came up.....faulty surge protector.
So, I will look for a different brand, make and model for another surge protector. Below is the one I bought and used twice.

Progressive Industries PT30C 30 Amp RV Surge Protector Portable

Ernie, I asked the shop manager if he thought any of the electrical system was damaged in the TT. He tested everything and it is fine.

Looking forward to getting out to Patagonia Lake at the end of the month.

Wow MovingT! That's very interesting. I also have the PT30C and the dozen or so nights I've used it there have been no issues. I'd suggest a message to Progressive to get their spin on the issue. I just checked my documentation folder and see it has a 1 year warranty. I got this one thinking it was a quality piece of equipment.

1X glad there was no damage to your TT!!

Did you contact Progressive Industries?

I've heard they have excellent customer support.

Most all the reports I've read about their products are great.

Sorry you had a bad experience.

Russell, have not called them yet, but I will. I was referred to this Company with good reviews. Probably just a fluke, bad surge protector box. I know it could happen.
