Surround: adding plastic rivets

2013 26 RLS: the double sided tape around the top and bottom of the shower surround is no longer holding. If I press it in, the tape will let go in a few minutes. It looks sloppy at the top and allows dirt to collect at the bottom.

I'm thinking of adding additional plastic rivets to the top and bottom inline with the existing rivets.

Does anyone see a problem with this idea?

I'm thinking of doing the same thing in my 2016 Greyhawk. The surround is bowing out where it meets the pan below the shower head. My surround already has some of those rivets installed.

I've used these rivets before on the interior of my enclosed trailer, and the install method was to drill a 1/4" hole then tap the "button" in with a hammer. I'm thinking I wont use a hammer but try to push the "button" in with the end of the hammer instead. Also, I'll use a small amount of sealant in and around the new rivet.

I would not worry about the surround bowing out a little. Mine does it as well. The tub has a lip that goes up behind the surround and will not let water through. The few drops that might go down the wall while showering will quickly dry. I would worry more about having extra holes in the surround than bowing. Just my .02...

I guess it's more than a little really. Probably 9" wide bow and a max gap in the middle is 2". Too much water splashes up there for my liking so I'm going for the rivet fix. These rivets are used all over my surround anyway.

Noticed the same issue in my new 321rsts while doing a prelim PDI today. The tape behind the wall with the hand spray is the worst. I can feel it grab when I press on it but then I hear it pull away. I'll address it with the tech on Saturday when I get the official walk thru.
Let's see what he says.....ill let you know....

Well here's the story....
They have no answer other than to say that there's a finished panel behind the shower walls so it's not a problem. Really?
The tech offered to put two screws in the wall......I declined the offer.
Kinda looks like we're on our own. I think I may opt for the plastic rivets unless I can think of something better.

Thanks for letting us know. I can't see a problem adding a few more plastic rivets. I'm going to look for them and give it a try.
