And I've been told the same about Fords.
In all seriousness, I really did almost buy a Ford. When I was looking all the used ones were either really new and really expensive, or really old and in rough shape. It's amazing how well any truck holds it's value. The truck in my sig was affordable (for me) and in excellent condition.

....LOL
I hear you get a free puppy when you buy a Ford now.
That way you don't have to walk home by yourself.

Never heard that one before. I don't know, though. I have a free cat and it's the most expensive free cat I ever owned- whether I'm walking home with or without her.

Must come from the old Found On Road Dead!
Talking just about diesel 350/3500s here, I've driven Chevy trucks and they ride like Buicks compared to Fords. And were very quiet compared to my Fords. But I just don't get Rams. 400,000 mile engine in a 100k body. Rough, noisy ride in my opinion. And not cheap. But the bottom line is, we live in truck country. A look over the WM parking lots will reveal a whole lot of Dodges, nearly as many Fords and very few Chevy's.
I did buy one of the very first '95 GMC 4-door Yukons and traded it for a '97 Expedition. Smaller than I was told it would be (I ordered six months before they were delivered) and it was put together poorly. Our rough road took a bigger toll on it in two summers than it has on all of our Expys.

I'm a diesel owner as well as your diesel proponent. I also used to own only gassers. The cost difference is 2 1/2 gallons per oil change vs 5 quarts, and a $35 fuel filter once a year. So I guess technically, you are correct. Other than that, I haven't spent any more on maintenance on my diesels than I did on my gassers.
For the diesel vs gas for towing argument, I will say that I would keep pulling with my diesel even if I went back to my old pop up trailer. It's just that much nicer to drive and pull with. Can't imagine ever towing with a gasser again, much less a 6 cylinder ego boost.

An "Ego Boost" (Ecoboost) is similar to a PowerJoke, Crummins, Whoretec and a number of other derogatory names for what their actual names (PowerStroke, Cummins, Vortec) are.

I'd heard Fix Or Repair Daily. This might be a good time to tell a story about
my first new Ford product. In 1987 I took a new fulll size Bronco, a black, 4WD Eddie Bauer, for a test drive. A mile or two off a highway on a nice dirt road it died, just as if you'd turned off the ignition. Hitched a ride to a phone, and the dealer sent a tow truck. I must have loved that truck from the get-go, because I ended up buying it! One of my most favorite vehicles I've owned.

Just to clarify, did you buy the Bronco or the tow truck?

Oh, sure there are. How about this one below. Note that it can be used for any brand of truck you love/hate.
This is {insert brand name of truck here} country.
On a quiet night, you can hear a {insert brand name of truck here} rust.

I have owned 3 half ton Chevys over the last 22 years. I have owned and towed 3 RVs with them over that time. If you are "camping" stick with a half ton gas pickup and a RV of suitable weight. If you could be hauling something bigger like construction equipment, livestock trailers, or are considering an RV toy hauler, get a diesel HD, 3/4 ton minimum.
