Sways

Hello, bought a jay flight 27 BH this weekend and understand sways for the trailer make sense. Does anyone have a recommendation of what type/style they prefer?

Also, if I have posted inthe wrong place, let me know where I should go. First time user and owner. Jim

If you are talking sway control / WDH... I use and love the Equal-i-zer.

I also use the Equal-i-zer hitch with built-in sway control. It has worked very well for me.

I just purchased a new TT a Jay Flight 19RD. After reading all the forum I purchased a Curt Class V hitch to replace the factory hitch and will be also getting the Reese trunion dual cam WD and sway control.

I have not picked up the TT yet. Probably within the next few weeks.

Welcome to the forum, Wyotraveler. I think you will be happy with your trailer and tow equipment choices.

We are using a Husky WD hitch and a friction bar for sway. We don't usually use the sway bar as we have not had a sway problem with this trailer.

My first two TT's were pulled by a 1500 Suburban and I used a friction bar to help control sway. My current TT is pulled by my Excursion and I have the Reese dual cam which helps to prevent sway from happening.

Wyotraveler,

First, welcome to the Jayco forums.

Just a little heads up on the Reese HP Dual Cam WDH...., it's a great WDH but it's important that your RV Dealer truly know (many don't) how to setup/adjust the Reese WDH HP Dual Cam to insure optimum performance.

Also remind your dealer that since he is adjusting your new Reese WDH under unloaded conditions, you will be back in the near future so that he can re-adjust the Reese WDH under "LOADED" TV/TT conditions (at their cost of course ). If the dealer says he can "pre-adjust" the WDH for loaded conditions, just smile and say that's impossible (which it is).

Feel free to post some pics of your hitched TV/TT with some close-up shots of your Reese WDH over in the "Towing and Tow Vehicles" forum if you want some additional eyes looking over the set-up.

Oh, make sure the dealer gives you all the documentation that came with the Reese WDH HP Dual Cam, it will come in handy down the road.

I just towed my Jayco 19RD home from Ellensburg, WA. Across Idaho, and Montana down into Wyoming. We went on I-90 through several icy mountain passes. Except for those mountain passes we traveled at 70 MPH. Hardly knew we had a TT on the back.

We bought the Reese Trunion WD hitch with dual cam.

I was less tired at the end of the day then when I pulled my 5th wheel several years ago. Although the 19RD is a small TT, I am totally impressed with how well it pulls down the highway. Keeping in mind I-90 this time of year from WA across ID, through MT and down into WY is not the best weather to be towing a trailer this time of year. We had wind, snow and icy roads.
