Table top

Anybody make a solid table top? My 07 314bhds table top is breaking where it sits on the bench when you make into a bed. My teenagers wrestling on it didn't help. Lol table is nothing more than particle board. Thinking of making one out of plywood and add some reinforcement underneath.

Mine is pretty warped from being stored upright when not in use.

Mine developed a sag after very little use. I seem to recall reading that some have broken. There are a couple of metal stiffeners screwed to the underside but they don't seem to be enough. I got a couple of PVC flanges from the big box store and made a center support using those and a length of 4" PVC that I had in the garage. I only use it while in the "bed" position and made it just a little (1/8" or so) longer than it needed to be thinking that it might remove some of the sag over time. It's nothing fancy and I store it in the outside compartment when it's in "table" mode. To install, I lift the edge of the "bed" and kick the support under. The folded legs and stiffeners keep it trapped in place.

had a Jayco 2007 pop up with the particle board table and I swear it was warped from the time I roled it out of the showroom brand new. always intended on making a sturdier model out of 3/4 or 5/8 plywood but sold it instead lol. can't see why it would not work. Just transfer the hardware to the new model and there you go.

I know several people that made table tops out of plywood. Put a tablecloth over it and no one would know.

An idea might be some oak or maple cabinet ply with iron on edge banding. Then a coat of expoy on top to make it waterproof. I put a coat of west systems on a raw wood kitchen table once and that thing was like a piece of iron and real easy to clean. A foam roller does the trick.
