Taking a chance, need advice

We do not have an all weather package on our TT, so this is the first time we're considering dewinterizing it and taking it out right after Christmas. The travel and destination weather is all above freezing (40s-50s) during the day, and only 3 nights will be below (24, 26, and 27 degrees).

I realize we are taking a bit of a risk here, so I would like to get the range of advice from others. Thanks!

We did camping in our previous TT in the same temps for New Years Eve last year and it didn't have the polar/all weather package either. You just have to keep the furnace and hot water heater on. We did have a heated hose as well, which prevented any freeze up of the water into the TT. We had a full hook up site as well. Just check on things regularly and I think you'll be ok.

Bring a couple gallons of RV antifreeze with you just in case. May want to dump some in your black / grey tanks since they are exposed, not sure how much you plan on using them, or what size tanks we're even talking about, but they should be 'ok'. Do you have an outside shower or kitchen? Those are 'at risk' locations, keep those lines as 'dry' as you can if you have them. I have a mod on my to do list this spring to install cut off valves for the outside shower and kitchen so I can keep them winterized, but enable the rest of the water system that stays inside. If you plan on using your fresh water tank, that outside valve you drain that tank with is also at risk. Full hookups with a heated hose is definitely recommended.

At night, keep any cabinets that have plumbing in them open, especially if it's getting into the low 20's.

If you have full hookups you can leverage the power available and use a ceramic heater to keep your propane use from getting too insane, mine paid for itself in 1 night... if that's a factor. We camp in the winter some... but it's dry camping for us. When the weather man calls for 25 degrees, plan on 20.

We camp in conditions like that fairly often. We only use the fw tank, it has a large thermal mass so it will not freeze up. We open the cabinets that have plumbing in them to let the heat in at night. we also use an electric ceramic heater instead of the propane heater.

I have had no issues with the outside shower. I keep it closed, with the inside cabinet open the pipes get enough heat to stay warn.

Good luck, you should have a great time.
