Well we voted for Blanco but are willing to do any of them you have listed.

We only need 30 AMP but understand others may need 50 AMP.

In Texas the AC is a must!

State Park Trips

We went to Inks Lake SP, with our grand daughters Girl Scout troop last October and had a great time. It's an excellent park to camp, with a large variety of sites. We also have another trip planned there with the GS's in June. My wife is the Troop Leader for the girls.

We have a family trip planned for Guadalupe SP this summer also. It's been close to 10 years since we went there for a day trip. I can't say exactly what activities are available but I do remember it was a nice park on the river.

Our sons were in Boy Scouts and they have been to all 4 of the parks on the list. From what we've heard, they are all good places to visit. One of the problems is they are also VERY popular, and require reservations up to 6 months ahead of visit. That said, definite number of sites, especially together, is going to be important.

My wife tried to get reservations at Garner State Park and they have a year waiting list. You have to be on the phone at EXACTLY midnight when they open the reservations for the park. We missed the July trip we wanted, but got it a week later by us reserving a site on Wednesday through the next Monday.

With a group reservation, you have to pay for how many sites you need, for the first night. Once the reservation is confirmed, then the rest of the charges can be paid at a later date. We were able to do it this way, since it was the Girl scouts. Will they do this for other groups, I don't know for sure.

The furthest distance for us would be Inks Lake, but any of the parks are fine. Being just south of Austin, all of these parks are a short trip for us. My only drawback is I need 8 weeks notice to put in for time off of work. It is one of the problems working retail. Any park which wins the voting will be a great choice.

Sites Together

When we went to Inks Lake, we took our camper and got there early and picked 4 sites together, and went down to the Ranger station, and told them which sites we picked. Inks has a LOT of sites, so we could do that, but with some of the other parks, that might not be possible.

My wife commented to me that's one of the reasons why big group events usually go to private CG's, to make the planning easier.
