Thermal packages....

They want 472.00 for this package for my new 29RKS that I am planning to order , do you think the package worth that ? I live in canada but I really dont camp in freezing temp ...so have you ever seen the difference between with or without ?

Mine came with the package. There's really not much to it, a thin layer of insulation and underbelly seal with gaps all over the place. I put another 1.5 rolls of gorilla tape under the trailer to seal everything up. The package also conceals the frame mounted VIN on the 23RB. I had to drop the back of the underbelly for California DMV to witness it at the second cross member from the rear... Pain in the Ass.....

In addition to insulated roof and slide floor, it includes insulated and heated underbelly. We don't camp in extreme cold but ordered it in our camper. $472 is the MSRP price. So once you get your discount off the entire cost of the camper, it's like $350 or less. To me it wasn't much compared to the overall price....

For me, it was worth the price. Better insulation and enclosed underbelly make an enormous difference in colder weather camping.

We camp from middle of May to the middle of October here in New England. I ordered the package in my rig as well. The price was nominal in the big picture. The camper seems to retain heat well early and late in the season, and stays pretty cool on those hot summer days. I don't know how much of a difference it would be without the package, but I have no regrets spending the few hundred extra bucks for it.

I would get it. Never know what you might need down the road and then its too late to add it.

Do you camp in the hot weather? The thermal package helps then, too.

We sometimes camp when the furnace is needed and often camp when the air conditioner is needed. I opted for the thermal package hoping that it would help the 13.5k air conditioner.

Good points by those that mentioned it helping in hot weather as well. I failed to mention that. We camped in ours with the thermal package on a trip where daytime highs were 100+ and it stayed nice and cold with only one ac running. Now we did have some (not complete) early afternoon shade... But it was hot and humid even in the shade...

These little boxes can use all the insulation we can throw at them. Unless you camp in 70 degree weather 24/7 it's worthwhile.

We ordered the thermal package and upgraded the a/c to 15K, we thought we needed to do everything possible to stay comfortable when the outdoor temperature and humidity reached extreme levels.

Wish I had also upgraded the A/C. From Montana but winter in AZ and could use the extra cooling power!

Mine is the Elite package so IIRC it's heated under belly and sealed. It sure can't hurt anything.

X2. Really makes a difference in hot weather. And it makes early and late season camping more comfortable as well.

We opted to not order it with ours...I like having the underbelly open so I can check on everything. I can see the slide out mechanisms, tanks and plumbing/straps, wiring etc. I was also able to completely spray the underside with Mouse-Free to keep the mice out. We camp from beginning of May to October. Never an issue with heating or cooling the unit here where the temps are fairly seasonable. We almost never get above 90 - 95 degrees or freezing during these times.
