This is not the best way to start our weekend....
We went camping last weekend and we got about 20 miles from home and this happened.....
No damage to the TT, but it took me about 20 minutes to change the tire and get back on the road. We had a Highway Patrol man stop behind us and put his lights on for "Our Safety". It was a two lane highway and we were on the shoulder as far over as I safely could be. Super friendly gentleman and offered to help any way he could.

Thank goodness you didn't have trailer damage, that's not the norm for this type thing.
I suggest you consider 4 new Maxxis tires, one load range higher than you now have on the rig.

Lucky you ... you did not rip off the fender skirts like I did when my tire blew..

FYI...my understanding is that if you blow a tire on a dual axle trailer, you should replace both tires on that side.
I suppose the assumption is that the remaining tire would have been damaged by debris and/or overloading.

Let me guess, another top quality set of 2 year old Towmax tires that Jayco continues to say are perfectly safe.
Glad you didn't suffer any injuries or trip ending damages to your trailer. Wonder what it is going to take to get Jayco to address the well-known issues with these tires.

Thank you everyone for your comments and concerns!!!
These are the original "BlowMax" tires and they are about 3 years old. I have already replaced all 4 tires with Maxxis Tires.
Grandkids got to play in the ditch while I changed the tire and Grandma (My Wife) kept an eye on them. They watched me change the tire for about 2 minutes and realized it was much more fun to play in the ditch than it was watch a tire being changed.
They talked about the ditch all weekend!!!

+1! It's only a matter of time before that other tire goes.

+1! I don't understand why they still use these! It can't be that much more expensive to go with Maxxis. They're not that expensive!

Wow, that's some industrial strength carnage! Glad to hear that you got it stopped without any damage and glad that it didn't ruin the kid's outing.

We have had that problem as well. As previously stated, the stock tires are crap.
If you said, I didn't see it but is your rig a toy hauler? If so, if you are carrying a full reserve of fuel and full holding tanks and a load of "toys", you may be exceeding the capabilities of the tires.

You were very fortunate. I had a blowout on my Windjammer and it did almost $500 in damage (that was parts only, I fixed it myself).
Also it happened on a 6 lane interstate and the other drivers wouldn't get out of the lane next to me, just kept blowing by at 80 mph when I was trying to change the tire. The semis were actually rocking my trailer as they flew past.

You can add roadside assistance to your insurance for just a few dollars a month. Let a professional with large jacks do that. Well worth the small cost.

Can you give a location of the ditch? My grandkids want to go there now!
Just kidding glad no one was hurt including the trailer. Looks like you were lucky with no damage to the trailer.

Tire pressure monitor is a must have in my opinion. It has saved me several times. I bought mine after a violent blowout on a south Texas interstate in July.
