Tips for newbie lighting hot water heater

We are having trouble lighting the hot water heater on our 2015 Jayfeather XLT. Does anyone have tips?

I don't know anything about your trailer. Are u taking gas or electric? My hot water heater has both options. For either I just flip the switch on the panel.

If your talking gas, you may have air in the line.

When I hook up the propane tanks for the first time on each trip, I find it easy to turn on the furnace to purge air out of the lines. Others use the stove but we have never used ours...

Southco is right purge the line with your stove and see what happens.

Listen to SouthCo for he is wise in the ways purging air... wait that didn't sound right. If you still have problems lighting it then try it manually. I've had to manually light my heater a couple of times. Open the outside access point. Go into the the trailer and turn on the hot water heater to gas, hurry outside and light the pilot with a long lighter at the indicated location. It should light right up.

If you still have problems with it not lighting call the dealer. Atwood has a 1 year warranty.

Mine is a 07... always takes a few flips of the switch. Running stove helps but on my unit it is the last device so it has to purge some. I think my air to fuel might be off a smidgen as occasionally it won't light during trips the first go.
