Tire Clearence on 29D

Amnyone here experience wheel clearence between the top of the tire and the wheel wells? I am in the process of purchasing a used 08 Featherlight 29D that has 1-1.5" clearence. The Dealer prior to the sale has agreed to replace the axles from Jayco but they also want to install a 3" riser. What was your fix if you had the same problem.

There were some issues with ground clearance on some of the lite model TT's, namely the sewer drain pipes and the angle at the connection point (on some). They could get damage during minor bumps in the road and were at times difficult to hook sewer hoses up to. Jayco actually had an option for a 4" riser for a couple of years on some of these models. My sister had a 29N and always had issues with her sewer piping getting damaged (didn't have the riser, but tire clearance wasn't an issue).

As far as your tire clearances, this was an issue with some axles and Jayco was taking care of it under warranty. The axle manufacture recommends that the clearance be 3".

IMO, the axle R&R has to take place for safety reasons, and I would highly consider the additional 3" riser while it's being done. Check the sewer connection clearances on other TT's at the dealer, compare them to the '08'
29D.

Yes both axles, both sides. So far Jayco is handling this very well, stay tuned for results.

Great news, my dealer Camp Land in Burns Harbor contacted Jayco who agreed to replace the axles at no charge, they handled the entire process very well, we picked up the trailer today just shy of of three weeks after the sale was complete. Thanks again to Jayco and Camp Land.

The new axles were installed with out using a riser and give about 5" unloaded tire clearance. I am a very happy camper.

Great to hear that it is being taken care of.

I'm sure everything will work out fine, but if you notice any unusual tire wear return the TT to the RV dealer (possible axle alignment issue).
