Toilet Water Supply Line Leak

2nd trip this month in next to new 2010 camper. We noticed water on the floor from bathroom. Thought it was the dog (she very rarely has accidents), but after closer inspection it was coming from supply line to toilet. Noticed the fittings were crimped style with no way to tighten. Not sure if it's the crimps are bad or the 90 deg elbow may be bad. Dealer gave us a 90 day "XtraRide" warranty which involves a $100 deductable. Probably won't cost that much to fix and with distance to dealer, cost of gas, and my time, I'm considering fixing it my self. Not too happy about leaning over the toilet and working in tight spaces. lol Any one have any tips or suggestions?

Are you using a pressure regulator in to the rig? You could try re-crimping the connection if it is a O ring or replace it with a SS band type.

I had the same problem on mine... dealer never did fix it... I found it was leaking at the 90 degree elbow... fixed it myself once the rig was out of warranty... You have to use those compression clamps.. hose clamps dont provide enough force...

I had a leak that turned out to be poor workmanship when built.
The pex line to the toilet at the 90 degree bend was too long and rubbed on the wall.
This caused a pressure/vibration issue that resuted in the water valve to develop a crack
and seep water.
I had to shorten the pex line and replace the valve.

I just talked to the service mgr at our dealer. He mentioned that it could be something else, maybe a ball valve and that will be more than my deductable if that's the problem. Where did you get your crimping tool for the fitting? I may talk myself into trying to fix it.

I also had a leak in my water line to the toilet. The trailer was still under warranty, so I had the dealer fix it.

Checked my toilet today for model & serial # and called Thetford. They advised there weren't any recalls and I would have to purchase a water module/water valve for $25.45 + shipping. I mentioned finding out about this problem on the forum, but I guess Thetford isn't as willing to replace their faulty valves now. I looked at toilet again to figure out how to remove it and the owner's manual for instructions, but didn't find any. Will probably bite the bullet and let the dealer do it under the extended warranty and pay the deductable.

It was not a recall, but rather a warranty issue. Once outside the warranty they will not cover it.

Thanks Again Crabman and everyone else for responding. If I could park my trailer at home, I'd probably try fixing it myself. I replaced toilets, sinks, etc. at home over the years, but I've always had access to power. Guess I'm slowing down in my retirement years and getting lazy! lol

Thanks to everyone's help I replaced my water valve/water module today. Bought the part at a local RV dealer and saved myself some $ and time. Did have an appointment at our dealer where we bought the camper, but it was about an hour away. I also notice there was an O ring missing on the old valve where the water went to the toilet bowl. I wonder if the leak could have been coming from there? Anyways, thanks again everyone for answering a fellow camper in distress! LOL :hihi:

Glad to help. Changing out the valve is a relatively easy job. And the problem with going to dealer with these minor problems even when IN warranty is the time and expense involved in towing your rig there, possibly having to leave it, come home and go back later. Fuel costs can add up quick making the repair yourself more cost effective.
