took delivery last night! 28BHS has landed

We took home our new TT last night. Sure looks nice in the driveway. can't wait to get out camping. i think I have most of the essentials, as far as plumbing etc. Need to get a list together for other camp necessaries. Rug (or indoor/outdoor carpet), bedding, cookware, maybe a camp chef stove etc.

They had most of that stuff at the dealership. But man, the prices seemed out of this world. $100 for a 10' string of party lights. $100 for an awning rug that looked an awful lot like it was just a tarp.... it was all about double what it should have been.

many of the campgrounds open the first weekend in May around here. I plan on taking her out then. can't wait. The kids want to "camp" in the driveway tonight!

I don't buy anything from the RV dealer for a number of reasons... price being one of the main ones. You can find much better deals just about anywhere else locally, and online as well.

Enjoy the new trailer!

I have found that the best deals are at Walmart - locally, and at Tweetys.com for the more speciality items.

.

Definately know your prices on all item. For me, my local RV dealer was less expensive for some things and my local K-Mart / WallMart store was less expensive for other things. Actually, I'm still amazed my local RV Dealer sold me an axle with brakes (for my 6x10 utility trailer) for $100 "less" than the many different suspension & welding shops in my area. Still amazed because for some things, my local RV store is 7 times more expensive. Perhaps my local RV dealer gave me "their price" by accident???

Also.... Do setup your TT in your driveway or front lawn for a weekend. If you must go into your house for something, then you know what to buy. I let my kids camp beside our house for 2 weekends. Amazing the many little things (like small can opener) that one needs for their TT.

Congrats on our new purchase.

Congrats on your new Jayco Jay Flight 28BHS. Don't expect to get everything right away. Concentrate on the essentials, things like awning lights can wait a couple weeks.

Sewer hose and water hose at Wallmart are poor quality but most of the other RV items seem to be good quality and priced right. Linux blocks, deflappers, tire covers are all good.
