Tow question

Have jayflight 28RBS. Loaded weight is about 8,000 (I think max weight for TT is 8,750), and just from eyeballing inside it seems like it's loaded pretty evenly. We have a WDH. Tow truck is a 2017 Ford F350 super duty diesel 6.7 crew cab with tonneau bed cover (not sure how much weight that is). Because it's such a powerful TV, do we still need to check/have any concern about CAT weights for individual axle weights, etc. Total passenger weight will be 360 lbs and we won't have more than 200 or 300 lbs in the truck bed. Do we maybe need to put our winter sand bag tubes in bed to weigh the bed down more? My husband says the CAT scale per axle is too complicated and that's why we got such a big TV. I do tend to overthink things! We're petty new to towing and some of the posts have scared me some. Thanks for advice!

If it tows ok, a lot of folks would be very comfortable with that setup.
I would want to know I am in the right ball park for tongue weight.
That would give me my best data to avoid any sway.

It's a good idea to hit the scales just so you know what the weights are. Having a big TV with plenty of power is great but, axle weights, combined weights, etc. are important things to know and see how the vehicle is performing. No doubt you're clear as far as ability but, knowing the weights can help you understand all the aspects of towing. They'll let you know exactly how even the weight has been distributed. Then you may have to make small adjustments. Just my view on it. Consider it piece of mind.

Thanks! Can you give a simple explanation of how to weigh? Or all seems SO complicated!

I am hitting scales this morning on the way out.

1. Check in with scale operator and tell them what you're doing and that you will need 3 separate weights.
2. Pull onto scale hooked up with WDH. There is three separate pads if I recall.
If you pull your front wheels onto front pad, all other axles line up correctly.
Ask for your 1st weight
3. Pull off scales and into an area where you can unhook spring bars.
Lift TT tongue with jack and remove spring bars, Place spring bars in bed of
truck. Lower jack and proceed with rig without spring bars. Position front
axles on front pad and ask for 2nd weight.
4. Pull off scales and into an area where you can drop TT for 15 minutes.
Chock TT and disconnect as normal. Leave TT while you get weight #3
Pull onto scales again, front axle on front pad. Ask for weight #3
5. Pull off scales, collect weight tickets and connect TV/TT as normal with spring
bars back in place.

Done

Your 350 will tow that trailer just fine. You'll be way under the specs of that truck. That truck will pull MUCH heavier loads....much heavier with ease.

Only thing I will add to Doug's post is if there isn't any trucks waiting or starting to pull in, I have removed the wd bars sitting on the scale for the 2nd weighing.

Make sure you have a broom handle (or similar) to reach the call button!!!

And also make sure you don't pull to far forward as the front tires will still be on the "steer axle" scale, but the rear tires could also be on the "steer axle" scale and not on the "drive axle" scale (or on both scales). That would screw up the individual weights.

Whenever I weigh I go inside as well beforehand. Then once all done my wife goes inside to pay and get the weight slips while I hook the tt back up.

I just weighed this weekend. It is easy to do. It takes maybe a half hour. Nobody was at the scale when I was there too. The cost was $15. $11 for the first weigh and $2 for each additional weight.
