Tow truck

So who makes the best all around tow truck, FORD,DODGE,CHEVY,GMC to pull these heavy campers. I am super happy with my Ford F250. I bought her new and she has 20,000 mles on her now. Every now and then I get the urge to go look, but mine is paid for. And I truly do LOVE it. However I like the look of the new Fords and ill wisper this low, the look of the new GMC Denalli. However its still a GM product. I even had a 2500 Ram with the Hemi before this Ford and liked that truck aswell. So what you think are the pros and cons between these trucks and I would like to hear about 250 and 2500.

I think they all make a good tow vehicle. Each has their pros and cons, and pretty much comes down to a matter of preference and features. I've owned all 3 brands, but have had 3 like the one in my sig (2003, 2007 and 2013). None have let me down and we don't baby them.

Hope this thread doesn't turn into the brand war bashing thing. All 3 make great trucks. Just wish they didn't cost as much as a house.

If there was a single best, there wouldn't be any competition or 3-4 different US truck makers to chose from. I've owned Dodges, Fords and Chevys and will own more Dodges, Fords and Chevys before I die. To me, it's a matter of personal preference at and who has the best reliability for my budget at the time I'm looking. That reliability factor seems to vary from time to time with some manufacturers. You can keep the fancy leather interiors and touch screen navigation, I want something that will haul my family safely from point A to point B while pulling 5k plus lbs.

The best one is the one you enjoy and tows your trailer like a dream. There are pluses and minuses to everything. When all is said and done it's personal preference.

We went for the Chevy 2500 4x4 Duramax. Ford did not have what we wanted and I really wanted a Ram but they could not come close to the Chevy's price. No Matter which brand you choose you should get a good truck.

I currently have a 2013 F350 with the diesel and love it. I do really like the look of the new GM HD trucks, and the Duramax is great too. I do not like the GM interiors as much though. I think the Cummins engine is probably the most solid and proven, but that doesn't mean the either two aren't. I don't care for the body style on the Ram either. I really think now it's which one you find the best price on and is most comfortable for you. For me, the best all around was Ford and I have no regrets. If I had to pick my wife or truck, I'd probably pick the truck!

Tow truck

I have always been a Ford owner but if I were in the market for a 1 ton diesel, I would price them all and buy the one with the best price and features.
I like to rag people about their tow vehicle, but they will all do the job easily when properly matched to the tow.

I own a Chevy and love it, but if someone came out with a Ford F350 with a Cummins engine and Allison Transmission, I'd put my order in immediately.

In all seriousness they are all good trucks.

Can't buy that off the lot, but there sure are a lot of those around the house, just as you describe. Of course who knows how much $$ they have in those things.

I have been die hard ford truck guy,i had 3 f-250's ranging from a 460 big block,5.4 and 6.0 Diesel with Torqshift trans. However my father left me his 2500 Chevy 2500 with Duramax/Allison trans and I really cant complain other than the interior really isn't as nice as the fords.I've never owned a Dodge so I cant comment to much other than I hear of trans issues still. It's really personal choice anymore when your looking. They all do well towing and have lots of power. But if you own your truck outright I would just keep it

You are all right, they all make Great trucks. I do really Love my F250 and it pulls awesome. And its paid for with low miles, oh yea and never been driven in snow ether. As long as she don't give me problems I'll keep her. What oil do you guys use in your trucks. I use Amsoil good stuff. Still might test drive some new Desiel trucks just for comparison.

I run Shell Rotella T 15-40. Amsoil is good oil but for me the cost and having to order it isn't worth it.I run 5k oil changes and never have any issues

I haven't change the oil in the Chevy yet, but when we had our big trucks we ran Rotella and a gallon of Lucas oil treatment. We put a million plus miles on each truck before selling them. We ran Detroits and Cummins never a problem.

Where I live right now, I will only buy a Chevy from one of the 2 close by Chevy dealers. I've had problems with the other Chevy dealer and the Ford and Dodge dealers. However, I would not hesitate to buy a Ram or Ford if I trusted the dealers and they could match the Chevy dealer price with my GM Master Card discount. I buy more based on the dealer service department than the brand, although I've been very happy with the Chevy trucks I've owned.

Here's one comparison test of the 2015 one ton trucks. I'm sure you can find others with different results.

The dealer's reliability is really more important now than the brand of truck.. they all make good ones.. but a poor dealer makes the truck seem like manure.

I agree 100% Seann.
Just like buying a new camper a good dealer makes or breaks the after the sale experience.

I've always been a Blue Oval guy, guess it's mostly cause dad worked for Ford till about 1970 when they closed the assembly plant in Dallas. The F350 that we tow with is our first pickup and first diesel and I love it on both counts! Our 5th tips the scale at just under 13K# and the truck does a very nice job of moving us down the road.
