With the wider, more solid surface of the 2x8 vs a lego block type block, there is a more solid footing in soft soil where the lego block may settle into the ground.
I've never had a problem with the board shooting out from under the tire instead of the tire getting on top of the board. But if one did have a problem, a small length of chain attached to the end of the board would keep that from happening.
On edit: And I also have some 1x8 pressure treated boards that will get me 3/4" amounts of rise for getting the level right if it doesn't fall into increments of 1 1/2"

How do you chock them w/ the areas surrounding the tires not being level w/ the tires?

I have some of these,
but from what I hear, they are being phased out in favor of the X chocks

I use both wood and the lego plastic levelers. I took some treated 2x8 cut it to the length i wanted. screwed two of them together with rope in between the two just to make them easier to carry. Also only use the wood if the camping spot is bad uneven. Like most have said the lego type levelers are not that costly and are light weight.

I stopped at Home Depot, bought a 2x8 treated board and had them cut it in 8 inch lengths.

I got lucky found a set of Lynx Levellers (new, never used) in a garage sale... the guy sold me the kit with the bag for $25.... The same kit was sold $99 by the local RV shops...
Now I've used it for 5 summers and I have 2 cracked levellers... they don,t like sitting on soft terrain!

pressure treated 2x6's. Free and tied them up between the battery and LP tank on the trailer tounge when in tow.

Wood all the way. Weight is minimal and in a pinch you can use the extra's for firewood. Gave all mine to a neighbor when we left our site in Fla last year [fire wood] and replaced with new when I got home. Have a ready source of wood ends so replacements are free. Over the years have found that the storebought stuff is subject to being forgotten at the site when you leave. so are the wood pieces but who cares?

Forgetting stuff....wow,,,, been camping regularly for 5 years and never forgot a thing...
Actually yes, my son forgot one of his Hot Wheels one Fall..... and we went back the next Spring same lot,...and it was there waiting for him!!!! LOL

Just offering a tip nothing else intended, but the last thing I do is conduct a last chance safety inspection of tail lights,
safety chains, hitch latched etc. As long as I'm going around the camper, I look around the campsite for forgotten items like gear or trash.

Made mine from 2X6's. Drilled holes in each set and drop a pin in to keep them from shifting when driving on. Add a 4X4 chock in the middle and your set. I carry two sets so I can lift both sides on sites with high sewer outlets or so I can drain into a tote (trailer has very low sewer outlet).

If you have the scrap wood laying around by all means use what you have. I have a set of Lynx levelers and they are so easy, light and come in there own bag. Even a caveman can do it...

I just use a pair of jack stands right in front of the tires. I use a bottle jack to jack up the high side first then jack up the lower side to match the high side so it is level. This removes all tire and suspension bounce and is quick to do. If you are on the ground place a 2" x 10" board under the jack stands so they won't sink. I bought one 2"x 10" x 8' and cut into 8 pieces for blocking up. I also put a jack stand under the trailer tongue once it is leveled with the electric tongue jack to remove any movement.

If you leave the wooden ones at the storage lot over the weekend, they are more likely to be there when you get back.
