Trailer on stands

To help preserve the TT tires when not in use. I was thinking of putting the TT on stands. To much work to preserve the tires ? Or I'm over doing it ? Jayco 197.

To much work, and I don't think you will extend the life much if at all. I suggest keeping inflated properly, covering them when in storage and replacing every 5 years regardless of tread. Tires are affected more by UV than idle weight.

If it's in storage for a long time, tires can get 'flat spots'. As mentioned above, make sure they r properly inflated. You could always move your trailer every few months to prevent a 'flat spot'. I used to do this for my motorcycles while in storage.

I use to do PDIs for Land Rover and the vehicles came in with the tires at 70 -80 psi to prevent flat spots when being stored. Part of the PDI was to deflate the tires to proper pressure. I think that most new car/truck manufacturers do this. I don't know this, but I have read that RV manufacturers do this as well. I set my E rated tires at 80 psi which is what they are rated for. We typically use our TT at least once a month even during Winter months so I don't bother trying to over inflate them for storage. I haven't noticed any flat spots anyway. My TV sits sometimes for a month without use and when I start to drive it I notice the flat spots for the first couple of miles then it goes away. I use Michelin LTX tires on the TV and Maxxis on the TT.

I jack my trailer up for winter storage for 2 reasons:
1. To preserve the tires.
2. To reduce strain on the rubber elements of the Dexter Tor-Flex suspension.

Do whatever you want, it sounds like it only matters to each individual.

Rubber will degrade from ozone, UV or both no matter what you do other than remove it from this planet. Once a rubber based product is made the clock starts ticking. Tick Tock.........you change tires and other rubber products based upon time since manufacture date.....
