That sounds a little bit like a "body lift". Doesn't seem like that would properly address the sagging issue, just make it so when it DOES sag, it doesn't look so bad? And why does the drive shaft need to be replaced?

Does the performance of the work suggested in that TSB actually work to address the problem? Just curious ...

Nah, for that money, I would find a way to put stiffer suspension in the rear and actually fix the problem. It's an HD truck, it shouldn't look like that when loaded and performing the work it was purportedly designed to do.

Here's some of the TSB....

ISSUE:

Some customers with 2011-2016 F-250 Super Duty 4x4 vehicles want to raise the rear of their vehicle to change vehicle attitude appearance. This procedure provides the necessary information for this modification in accordance with engineering specifications. The modification is a customer responsibility and is not covered by New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Rear ride height may be increased by replacing the rear leaf spring spacer block along with additional components. Raising the rear ride height could affect fifth wheel trailer compatibility.
  1. Is the vehicle a 2014-2016 model year and equipped with a snow pre-package?
    1. No - proceed to step 2.
    1. Yes - no further action is required. The vehicle is already equipped with all the components listed in this procedure.
  1. Lower the rear axle and remove the original 5 cm (2") rear spring spacers. Discard the spacers, U-bolts, and nuts. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 204-02.
    1. Refer to the parts list chart for the correct part and vehicle application. (Figure 1)
  1. Install the 10 cm (4") rear spring spacers, using new U-bolts and nuts.
  1. Raise the rear axle and tighten the U-bolt nuts in proper sequence. Refer to WSM, Section 204-02.
  1. Replace the rear shock absorbers. Refer to WSM, Section 204-02.
  1. If the vehicle is equipped with a two-piece driveshaft, replace the driveshaft and center bearing bracket. Refer to WSM, Section 205-01 and proceed to Step 8.
    1. Check driveline angles, if required. Refer to WSM, Section 205-00.
    1. Failure to update the center bearing bracket, if required, may result in driveline shudder.
  1. If the vehicle is equipped with a one-piece driveshaft, replace the driveshaft. Refer to WSM Section 204-02.
  1. If the vehicle is equipped with a camper package with rear suspension stabilizer bar, replace both rear stabilizer bar links. Refer to WSM, Section 204-02.
  1. Adjust headlamp aim. Refer to WSM, Section 417-01.

Good to know!

I didn't know it had a 2-pc drive shaft either.

We have actually had two. They are both 03s. One was a CC short box 7.3L 4x4 and the one we have now is a extended cab short 6.8L 4x4. Both of ours have the factory "helper springs" but rarely make contact (except with the 5th wheel on).

I think if I were in your shoes, I would check to see if the timbrens are even making contact when you are all hooked up. If they are, I would leave them, if not, it really doesntmake a differance.

Michellins are nice tires, but imo dont seem to be real heavy duty (if you compare side wall to side wall of other brand tires. Even the LR E's in a michellin seem thin. In my experiance, goodyear tires have the thickest feeling side walls. Although i run BFG's on my personal TV

Im guessing its only the extended wheel base 2wd models like a extended cab LB or longer. Rarely do you see a two piece shaft in a 4wd

My truck is a 2008 it sits level when not loaded. That is just crazy for Ford to put out there. All the money I paid for a Super duty truck and its a diesel. This should not be a concern. I called Albany spring near me they told me they could add a leaf to make it more heavy duty. Never said anything about my driveshaft and it would be about $500.00 dollars. Don't get me wrong my truck halls the load without the timbrens but does sag some. For the price of these trucks it should not be a customer problem. Not sure what I am going to do. If Ford had made the bump stopper flat not half round that would probably make a difference with my problem. May end up removing timbrens and wait till I can afford the spring, wish I had known could have put the $200 spent on timbrens to heavier springs. I had a 2003 Dodge Ram with the Hemi before this truck, it seemed to have a stiffer rear suspension. I liked the truck allot was even four doors but was getting this Eagle and wanted a diesel. At the time I could not find a Dodge diesel I liked. They were finding me one it did not even have the tow mirrors come a 2500 without tow mirrors. This Ford just kept catching my eye when I drove by for work. So after a test drive I was hooked.

Some dually 4x4's with long wheelbases have a 2 piece. It joints at the carrier bearing. Don't know why.

Did you buy the truck used? If its the truck in the pic in your signature, it does appear to be sitting level unloaded. Thats a red flag to me, espically with a diesel engine. In fact if you look at the truck (although the pic is small and I cant enlarge it) it appears that the space inbetween the top of the tire to the bottom of the fender is larger in the front than the rear. Im going to go out on a limb and guess that the previous owner installed a leveler kit to the front of your truck so it wouldnt always be riding down hill (like they all do from the factory). If thats the case, you may want to have the alignment checked. When installed, it changes the dementions of the front suspension. You may not notice any abnormal wear on your tires, but a lift like that will change the caster angle and caster is a non tire wearing angle but will affect how well a vehicle drives down the road. Personally, if its there, id remove it from my vehicle.

Here is a picture bigger, 08 FX$, XLT, 21,000 original miles on it now. Pictures of original bump stop and timbren and before and after installation. All the tow options and snow plow prep that could be why

Hey Idahoboy, was wondering how much space you have between your timbrens unloaded. The picture shows mine, also do you have the half round steel that the timbrens sit on when loaded, any sway.. Anyone else experiencing problems with the timbrens. I don't know if it is a problem with the timbrens but maybe what they come into contact with. How are they working for other brand trucks.

looks a little close unloaded, but should be fine, then again, mine ride on the axle all the time due to warn out springs. I really think theres something else going on... just not sure what that is... It may still be worth while having the alignment checked if you have never had that done. You would have to look at the recomended service manual, but GM (i know, its not apples to apples) used to recomend having an alignment check done every 12 months or 12000 miles.
