Talking TV mount for my 26BH

Just installed a TV mount in my Jayco Jayflight 26BH. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be, except trying to hold the TV up by myself and thread the screws in. I stacked up 4 books on top of the Xbox and set one corner of the TV stand on that and then all I had to do was hold up one end. Still wasn't easy as I am disabled, but I got it done.

I am thinking about adding a couple wire ties to the TV mount to hang the excess cable behind the TV.

Here are the pictures.

The TV is a 32 inch Visio and is only there temporarily; hence the TV stand still being attached.

Thanks for sharing the pics.
I have the same mount yet to be installed in my 165 Sport.
I am only mounting a 24" TV.
Do you plan on leaving it installed during travel?
I am wondering if there is a quick disconnect way I can attach it so I can stoe the TV during travel.

I'll tackle this project in April.

Best regards,
Doug

Doug,

I will be disconnecting the the TV during travel. I saw a post where someone had to take two different mounts to create one with a built in quick disconnect and the swing arm. I believe it was on this website.

Yep Ironman,
I remember reading that somewhere.
I'll probably rig something up.
Maybe just some thimb screws would be enough. There's only 4 screws.
I'll probably mount to side of kitchen cabinets in my 165 Sport.
If I can't catch a frame member, I'll add something. Just got to get the thing out of storage lol

Thanks,
Doug

I`ve got that very rig in the bedroom. One mount slides in the other for quick TV removal. Its on the forum somewhere, maybe I can dig it up.

Doug

I found Atdec TH-1040-VFM Articulating Wall Mount at Walmart for 77 dollars. I found some others that were over a hundred, thumb screws are a whole lot cheaper.

Here are pics of the two mounts. One part of the small one gets mounted to the TV and slides over The other half which gets mounted to the articulating mount. You just drop it on to install the TV, or lift it off to take off the TV.

TV mount for my 26BH

Very nice! Thats a big TV! Now just remove the stand for a sharp look.

The mount that came in our 24fbs is not articulating, but it does have a method for quick removal. The part of the mount that attaches to the tv has a bar that rests in two saddles on the wall portion to support the tv's weight, and the bottom has two quick release latches that latch the pieces together.

I'll be getting it out April 1 to get ready to head West April 15th.
I'll post some pictures of what I end up with.

Best regards,

Doug (or anyone really) know the actual recomended location on the 165 jayfeathers where to attatch a TV mount? I believe off to the right side of the cabinet above the sink but wasnt sure if there was a reinforced spot on the wall in that general area. Im looking at a TV/DVD combo on sale at our local Best Buy right now (19")also looking to fab up some sort of swing away/quick disco mount to travel. Ironman...very nice set up btw (didnt mean to hijack your thread, just got the gears turning).

TV mount for my 26BH

If you want a TV mount then go to monoprice.com. Great prices there and great items. I've hung 5 tvs with mounts from there so far.

Exjay.
I thought ZI read a thread where they hung it off the side of the cabinets next to where the antennae connection is.
That's what I am thinking, but until I get my hands into in April, that's all I have.

As soon as I get it installed, I'll post pics.

I am thinking there is at least a frame member at the top of the cabinet.
If need be, I'll add another frame member as needed.

Best regards,
Doug

I don't know anything about the 165, but I contacted Jayco about my 26BH and they emailed me some construction diagrams of the wall that I used to locate the studs to which I attached the mount.

It's cool about the hijacking, but I fear the FAA may get wind of it or homeland security and then you'll be in trouble.

I got this monoprice mount for $10:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The mounting screws measure 2".. Wondering if the studs are going to be thick enough or if the screws will punch out the other side of the wall (bunk area). I don't have my 26BH yet so I'm just guessing.. Does anyone know how thick the walls are?

Thanks,
Dan

Seems like a lot of the framing I am seeing on here is 1" x 2", so actual thickness would be 3/4" + the wall paneling.
I would probably use a 1" screw max adding the thickness of the mount plate.
That should hold your TV I would think. Maybe a #8 x 1"

Best regards,
Doug

I am assuming everyone either used a stud finder or emailed Jayco for a diagram.
service@jayco.com

I intend to mount mine on the side of my cabinets, so I'll be able to see what framing is available and what I might need to add.

I would also use a larger screw than a #8 as I previously posted. Probably biggest diameter mount will allow. Was late when I posted #8 screw lol

Best regards,
Doug
