On most fifth wheels, the under storage compartment is warmed by a duct into the compartment usually right on the main duct. The compartment is open to the tanks and also has vents under the stairs that allow air to circulate from the main cabin.
It tickles me to see a fifth wheel in winter or summer with the front storage compartments propped open. I guess they don't realize that all their heat or cold from inside is escaping.
