Underbelly came off while traveling

Hey everybody, we have a 2011 32BHDS trailer, has around 8k miles on it so far. This past week we went on a drive to Oregon for a family vacation, and I noticed at a gas station that the underbelly had started peeling off. Insulation and plastic underbelly were strewn all over the freeway. I ended up having to buy $30 dollars for some gorilla tape to hold the remaining underbelly together. All in all, about half of the plastic came off, and most of the insulation. I don't have to say that I was pretty upset, both at the trailer coming apart on the highway, but the embarrassment of pieces of my trailer flying off all over the place. I will be getting it into the dealer next week for the repair.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? and what are your thoughts on the odds of the manufacturers warranty covering it? (We are still in the window of coverage for the MFG warranty).

Thanks,
Jake

I would say that Jayco should step up to the plate and replace the entire underbelly, as it obviously wasn't installed correctly. You have a 2 year warranty, and this sure looks like a warranty issue to me. My trailer is 9 model years old, and not one piece of the underbelly has come loose or off, so yours certainly shouldn't. A buddy of mine had his side outer shell of a wall peel away while going down the highway (not a Jayco). He had to buy a lot of duct tape to get home (~1000 miles).

Good luck

I have had my 32BHDS since May 2010. We have about 7k miles of towing on it and have had no problems with the enclosed underbelly, in fact yesterday I was under the TT inspecting the underbelly for openings and it was still solid. I am sure Jayco will take care of the correct installation of your underbelly.
