Using blocks for frame

Hi, I'm going to a seasonal site and people are telling me that I need to use blocks on my frame because of all the wind off the lake. My dealer says no, that the stablizing jacks are enough. Any thoughts? Thanks so much!

The dealer doesn't live on the lake, does he?

Me, I'm cheap. I'd try the jacks first and see if that works for me and add the blocks if it wasn't stable enough.

Thanks, I just didn't know if it was bad for the frame.

My assumption was that the blocks only are used to take any unacceptable 'wiggle' out of the trailer, not raise the trailer. Some people are OK with trailer movement when using only the stabilizer jacks, others do not like it.

Some people add jacks near the center of the trailer, or add the diagonal supports to the stabilizer jacks, or stablize the tires with different kinds of X-chocks, etc. to reduce movement.

Look at the other TT's around the lake. If the majority have them then it's worth looking into. Maybe even seek out some pointers on getting everything level.

I'm on a seasonal site using the Jayco Eagle. I quickly found that there was too much motion in the trailer using just the stabilizer jacks. So, added an 18" square patio stone in 2 places under each side of the trailer frame. Then stacked concrete building blocks 2 X 2 One way and 2 x 2 the other way. Three blocks high. Used wood shims to level it out. Trailer is now rock solid.

If I was to do it again...Lugging 24 blocks was a bit of a pain....I'd start with 3 or 4 eighteen inch square patio stones per side and place a 2 ton jack stand on each patio stone....extend them and you're done.

If you block the frame then do it near the front and rear wheels.. NOT AT THE ENDS. then also use the stabilizers at the ends.. Why near the axles you ask? Less stress on the frame.
