Using outside shower to back flush black tank

Where we mostly camp they do not have water to flush out the black tank. Since the outside shower is just above the black tank flush I was wondering if anyone used that to flush the black tank.

You won't get much pressure or flow to do any good. You would be better off using a 5 gal bucket and pouring it in through the toilet.

I agree that while you could do it, it won't do much good.

Another option is fill it up some on the way to the camp ground. Let it slosh around on the way there. Once you arrive hit the dump station and clean out before use.

My husband and I always put a "Y" adapter on the camp water spigot so we can attach a long hose and a flushing wand to flush the tank. Works pretty well, then we add a couple of gallons of water and a bottle of chemical and let that slosh around on the way home. We can dump at a local campground for a few bucks or just dump on our next trip out..

An old timer told me anytime he wanted to give his black tank a good cleaning he would empty his black tank completely, turn off the water supply and then dump about 10 lbs of ice cubes down the toilet before he headed out on the road. His theory was the ice would move around in the black tank and loosen up anything that was left in there after he dumped his tank.

I flushed my tank yesterday with the outdoor sprayer. While not as good as city water, it definitely got "stuff" out. We'd let it fill for a while and dump and repeatedly did this till we saw no "stuff".

The state park had a flush hose but no way to connect to the flush port as it didn't have a garden hose fitting.

Wouldn't of worked for me. It was just a tube of bronze 1/4" od bent into a hook shape with a 3/8" od blunt end on soldered on it. The hose itself was 3/8" od. The water theif wouldn't of worked. Several times I've had this issue and the water theif wouldn't of work.

One park had an air hose with a blow gun as the rinser. Lol
