Vent covers

Which ones to go with?
Maxair or camco big price difference in the two. Is there that mich of a difference in quality?
Since we are getting the roof replaced i figured now is the time to install.
I have never had any but think they would come in handy when its raining and taking a shower you could turn the fan on and open the vent without worry of rain coming in!

I can only vouch for the Maxx/Air. The one on the front vent has been on since 2000. The one on the rear vent was replaced with a Turbo/Maxx fan in 2002. Both are still in use today and I've never had a problem with either of them. I leave my vents open year 'round and only close them when running A/C. They have both been durable and reliable products. However, the product design has changed since I purchased mine so maybe things have changed since then.

I've had a TurboMaxx (vent fan and cover combined) since 2001 and have had no issues; I moved it from our "old" RV to the new one. I also bought two Maxxair vent covers and installed them in February 2011 and have had no issues. I leave all the vents open when the RV is stored, and have not had any issues with water intrusion. I've never used the Camco product and so can't speak to them.

Its basically a cover with louvered vents.
I've looked at both and can't see where the price difference is warranted

I just installed a Camco cover a few weeks ago. Haven't had the trailer out since. But it seemed well made and installed without issues. For the price I think I'll be happy with it.

I have the Maxx/Air covers on all of my vents (3 total), there were a new addition at the beginning of the camping season last year. I have to admit that I was skeptical at first but I am really impressed at how effectively they block out rain, even when driving. Given that, I wish I would have installed them way sooner. It is really nice to head away from the camper on a bike ride, hike, to the beach, etc and not have to worry about closing everything up before you go in case the weather turns.

I have the Camco on our 2004 and they work well. Got them at Walmart--best price I could find

I searched and found this thread from three years ago. I wondered if anyone had any more to say.

Camco $15
Maxair $31

Both look similar in design and materials.

Wondered if anyone had a Camco failure or rain problem.

Maxair 2. Worth the extra cash. More airflow. Much higher quality and a hinged design for easy open and maintance.

Installed Max Air 2 recently easy install! Nice feature has 2 unlock pins on top, for easy clean and access too your sky lite. Happy Trails

I installed the maxair2 5 years ago. It still looks like nee. I flip the cover to clear the dirt and leave once a year. Works great, can't speak of any others.

I got the covers by Fantastic Vent. The Ultra Breeze vent cover. I figured I'd keep it in the same family as the Fantastic Fan.

I installed the MaxxAir on our HTT. I was able to buy the hinged mounting brackets that are standard on the MaxxAir II at the time. When I wanted a cover for the 5th I couldn't find the hinged brackets as a separate item to I bought the MaxxAir II.
As stated multiple times, they are great. I close mine when we run the A/C in hot/humid weather.

Bought 2 on Amazon, should be here next week! Will the brackets touch the roof? If so I thought about buying some Etearnabond tape to reinforce my roof at any stress points.

Since I won't be able to readily inspect them I also thought of taping all the way around the vents before installation.

I have the MaxxAir as well.
I recall reading that the Camco covers didn't have good UV resistance and got very brittle and cracked for some folks after just a year or two. No first hand knowledge of this, but that was what led me to purchase the MaxxAir.

I put the Camco covers on two years ago, and was up cleaing the roof etc today, they still looked great. Sitting in the Arizona sun for most of that time, were not discolored and did not appear to be brittle or cracked. At the time Max air were out of stock and these were on sale for less than $30 for two of them.
